The Half-Life 2 beta (including Lost Coast, Episode 1, Episode 2) got an update today that brought "enhanced VR support." Sounds spiffy, but most of the changes focus on creating a more simplified user experience, and overall they're not what we would normally consider to be "large" updates. But, perhaps the most significant points of note are the added support for VR mode in Linux and Half-Life: Source.

  • Added support for VR mode on Linux
  • Added VR support to Half-Life: Source
  • Improved readability of the UI in VR
  • Removed the IPD calibration tool. TF2 will now obey the Oculus configuration file. Use the Oculus calibration tool in your SDK or install and run "OpenVR" under Tools in Steam to calibrate your IPD.
  • Added dropdown to enable VR mode in the Video options. Removed the -vr command line option.
  • Added the ability to switch in and out of VR mode without quitting the game
  • By default VR mode will run full screen. To switch back to a borderless window set the vr_force_windowed convar.
If you have an Oculus Rift developer kit, then you can try VR mode in Half-Life 2 and
Half-Life: Source by joining the open beta. Go to the Steam properties window for Half-Life 2, select the Betas tab, and opt in. Got questions, comments, or concerns? Valve encourages you to leave them on the Half-Life 2 discussion boards.

glad to see them still supporting really old games :D I just wish the rest of the original half-life games would get source ports to fix issues(or source 2 ports) or proper remakes sine BMS wasn't that good
