According to producer Marcus Lillson BF2142 will be "A lot less buggy than Battlefield 2 - and you can write that down." CVG had an interview with him and he boasts that "the team were taking the quality threshold extremely seriously this time around and would be setting a higher benchmark in QA to ensure Battlefield 2142 would debut as bug-free as possible." They know ET:QW is on the horizon two and if they don't deliver, all the fanboys will be jumping on the Quake Wars bandwagon. I know I will.

I really dont care anyway. im not buying it, Ive had too horrendous an experience with BF2

I'm leaning towards Quake Wars but I'm open to both, it's not like I have to pick one and stick with it. :)

Pfft I'm not getting 2142. Quake Wars all the way, baby.

I love BF2, but BF2142? Meh, too much blue-ray-plasma-sci-fi crap.

Quake Wars is kinda sci-fi and all as well but somehow I'm looking more to that.

Kinda scifi? It's more the other way around. BF2142 is semi scifi while QW:ET goes full on science fiction with the human v Strogg concept.

One of the reasons I really liked BF1942 and BF2 was the fact that they used real-life vehicles and weapons. I liked the little bit of realism mixed in with the instant action aspect of the game.

Now that BF is going future and fiction I don't think I'm going to be drawn to it as much. QW is much more unique (Strogg and RTS elements) and I think it'll be the better game.

That being said, if QW didn't exist I'd go for 2142.

Quake Wars definitely looks the pwn. What I dont like about all the recent press release around 2142 is the admission that BF2 was a buggy piece of crap. This is full confirmation for me that EA knew full well about all the problems and decided not to fix it for whatever lame reason.

That's EA for you.

QW ftw!

Disclaimer:
Im not being sarcastic or defending Battlefield in anyway:

To be honest I really don't remember Battlefield 2 having any bugs and I bought It right when it came out or very minor ones that didnt conflict with an awsome time. Can someone enlighten me on what the bugs were in Battlefield 2?

Major bugs/glitches from patch 1.3 or earlier:
-Red/Blue Tag bug
-Server Crashes
-Crash to Desktop
-Points/medals not being recorded
-Infinite firing looping sound
Anything which Ive forgotten?

I'd agree with what you said here.

I still get that one sometimes, pisses me off so much. Espeically with headphones it's right in my ears. Or sometimes its the sound of healing, that bandages sound. :frown:

I get that once in a while, it's not a big deal since it's not very loud anyway. The gunfiring on the otherhand, I'd probably just suicide to get rid of that. :|

I get the crash to desktop every other startup and sometimes the infinite sound loop + red tags.

Crash to desktop happens a bit for me, servers crash a hell of a lot. My medals aren't being awarded anymore. My rockets fly straight through vehicles all the damn time :rolling:

I have had a couple of CTD's after starting the game up this week. Annyoing.

Dieing randomly without a '....is no more' coming up or anyone getting credit for your death.
Borked hitboxes, whereby a moving player's hitboxes go all screwy and you unoad an entire clip into them and take off no health.

Alot like CSS then lol.

i think any developer will claim a game will be a lot less buggy than the previous iteration, but that statement doesn't make it so. QW > 2142

i dunno, i'm getting 2142, simply because from everything i've read about it, the devs sound like they've finally gotten everything figured out.

Plus its got mechs in it, while QW only has 1 mech in it.

However i'll probably get both, since i do really like the objectives type gameplay of QW and the sandbox goodness of bf2142.

And is it just me or is it impossible to snipe a moving person? Or even someone standing still.

Just you. Lining up correctly is not easy when the person is running, but if you pull the trigger at the right time they're done.

Just you nub, sniping is pretty damn easy until near the 'fog' range.

I'm pretty damn good at sniping, as anyone will tell you. I've sniped guys out of jeeps moving perpendicular to me at full speed- from like 200 meters away. The trick is to lead appropriately, and even try to compensate for bullet drop.

Sniping is indeed easy. If your no good at scoring headshots try and tell which class they are and go for unarmoured targets ie medics.

It still takes 2 shots to kill unarmored. Best bet would be try for head but if you miss but hit the body, whip out the trusty pistol and mow that ****er down with 1 shot.
