Apparently mine is just barely below recommended.

I have only a tri-core and 3gb of RAM but my graphics card is newer.

8gb of ram and amd sixcore here.

gonna be alright I think.

Glad I upgraded to my 460 about a year ago now, still fighting a good fight up there!

*edited first post because OP is too lazy to format anything after a copy paste, not even putting spaces between words. Derp.

Why is disc installation so much larger?

It's probably taking into account the fact that you would have to decompress files before ending with a final install size of 10 gigs? That just my guess so no telling what it really is.

Where are you guys seeing this? Did they take it down or something?

If so did anyone take a screenshot?

edit: Okay, figured it out. This is fake / not accurate info.

BF3Blog has had these up on their site for a while as what THEY theorize the BF3 system requirements will be. this post has been up for months on that site.

Apparently Gamestop did a search for BF3 requirements and just copy pasted from BF3blog... so this is all false info / speculation. Then when other sites saw that Gamestop had posted the specs they thought they were a leak of the official requirements... but they aren't. Which is why Gamestop removed the specs from their page.

Well poop nuggets! And I was all excited that my system wasn't gonna get raped by the game....

I just barely make the system requirements by .33 GHz. Everything else is equal to the requirements...

Scraping in below recommended here. Might not be able to afford to play it after all.

Just tried Battlefield 3 on Can You Run It (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/), and it's mid-way.

But then I tried Deus Ex Human Revolution, and I get mid-way between min and rec, yet I can run that on DX11 on max settings and get 40-60 fps.

Tried it again on The Witcher 2 and got the same result, yet I can run it almost maxed and get 30+ fps.

Not believing that site.

At this rate, BF3 will run at max settings at 40+ fps.

No wait, thats a good thing then...

Dont trust the site though. Like the Pirate Code, its more like guidelines than actual rules.

I think that site is aimed at people who look at system requirements and go:

"Oookay... and what do I have? Intel GMA X3100, I can run Battlefield 3, yes?

Oh... bummer."

Here are my current specs, PC is a good cpl of years old now and to be honest I dont know how good it is any more as ive really not been tracking the current tech. I have plenty of ram but no idea how good the processor or video card are any more. Any body got any ideas?

Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz
XFX GeForce GTX 275 896MB GDDR3 Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Asus P6T SE Intel X58 PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
Kingston HyperX 6GB Intel XMP DDR3 PC3-14900C9 Tri-Channel

Well your CPU is just fine. Nothing wrong there. The weakest link is the video card, but I'll guess and say you'll be able to play on Medium :)

I'm happy not to run it on high I will go in and pick + choose what graphics settings I feel are more important and try to getting it running at a decent pace. ie Draw Distance > Shadows etc.

I've just been looking at some 570's and it just seems like there isnt a MASSIVE jump in the hardware for the amount of money I really want to be spending so will wait for the game to come out, see how it goes and possibly update in the future.

Not having paied much attention to this kind of stuff its hard to know how outdated my machine is and what the current hardware is.

Yeah, wait until you see how the beta performs. You might be surprised. It is prudent to wait a bit before upgrading (if that's what you decided to do), since there may be new deals in about a month or so.

I am running it on the default "high" graphics settings in 1920x1200, vsync disabled. I'm getting 50-60fps with my 460GTX and Phenom II X4 970. I'm surprised and quite pleased with how well the gpu is performing.

Everything smooth Core2Quad @ 2.4, 4gb ddr2 and Radeon 5850 Toxic

...love this game
