first of all, how exactly did you come to the conclusion that your cpu was fried in the first place?

because when i started my comp i looked at the temp and it was 68c at idle, then when i was surfing the net, it would get really choppy when i scrolled, so i opend my task manager and looked at the cpu usage, and when i scrolled it would jump from 10%
(which is high just for surfing any way) to 53%. then my computer shut down and would do what i described above. i took out my processor, and the termal paste was charred black (i burn my self in the process too)

did you instll the chp correctly? can the mobo handle the chip?

All I have to say is your screwed buddy. But really your prolly touched the chip while you had static electricty on your fingers and once your touched it you zapped it.Just a theory.

the cmos thing worked, thank you oh so much shapeshifter!

np, Ive built so many computers from scrap its not funny, and that happens alot, nothing like a good cmos clear ;)

lmao, I have had to take that battery out so many times when building pcs. good job.

few questions: what processor/mobo do you have?
are you ocing it?
apparently you need some better cooling.

i had that problem once, reset the cmos jumpers, reset clock speeds and it worked :)
