I was sitting in the shower the other day when this thought hit me and I just thought I'd share it.
With the vast library of mods for Half-Life that are already out there and the new ones that are being developed for Half-Life 2 (which look absolutely incredible). I realized how much the community owes the mod makers. These guys, almost all of whom have other jobs, spend many hours out of their lives creating fun, enjoyable and most of all free games for the community to enjoy. Where would we all be with just one or two mutilplayer options for Half-Life.
So, thank you mod makers for the fantastic job you do, your ability to make the Half-Life community even stronger and the hours you spend creating fun games for us to enjoy.

Mods are what've kept the game alive for so long.

And apparently mods are the only thing keeping Planet Half-Life alive right now. Have you seen their news page lately? Eeeesh. :dozey:

Nice post man, thank-you, is true that the mod community has been keeping Half Life alive, acctually Valve alive, with out mods, I don't think that HL2 would have been in development.

By the way, Planet Half-Life has is really crap now, beofe they use to be great, now with Fragmaster gone it's become so bad, the forums are dead as ever if you have noticed.

Consider the thanks Second-ed by me. My mod time has 1000x outlasted the game time+expansions.

planet half-life is in the grip totalitarian moderators and gamespy...

sorry, when I said "game" I meant "download" and when I said "spy" I mean "nazis", as in "Download Nazis"...

No ofence but their moderators are so stupid, specially the beagle guy, he thinks he is so "cool" and "bad-ass" because he can bann people.
They also have something about insulting new posters.

That's what I was wondering.

Less mess when you're in the shower, no need for cleanup...

/me runs away

I've sat in the shower before and just pondered. Honestly, it relaxes me and helps me think.

I would have thought standing at any point in a waterfall would have the same effect.
(Sorry for diverting people from the TOPIC at hand)

I think a big thank you must also be given to the moderators,Admins and regular posters of community forums.Though the mod makers started it they kept it going.

EDIT: (FECK didnt mean for that to happen, can you just delete the above one)

Ya, showering is relaxing which lets you concentrate and not thing about crap like work or school. You prolly think better in the shower then you realize.

This is why Thief III's gonna die... they decided not to release level editing tools or SDK to us. Imagine HL2 not releasing any editing tools.

So please sign this petition!!!!

Mods are important!!

Lol those petitions are the biggest joke ever. Those petitions have NEVER worked and probably never will.

I've never *once* pondered in the shower. Come to think of it... I've never had a shower. I take baths.

No, not by choice, I have to take baths. No shower...

Back on topic, yes, mod makers are part of the backbone of Half-Life, but it was also VALVe who made HL so moddable. I want HL2 to be just as moddable, if not more.

the mods are like these dudes and dude'ts who link themselves to their game engines to create simulations of pain death and all out war.. viva VIVIA

If you were banned from PHL, but not here, it'll be because PHL have a lowe limit for what they consider an idiot, and you only get 2 warnings. If you get banned, it's your fault. As for the site, it's getting better. In all fairness, there isn't much else to go on, as PHL wisely refuses to go nuts over unconfirmed info.

Okay so my post has no real contribution (ROCK ON MOD MAKERS!) to the thread but.... you sit in a shower? :E

Yeah mod makers are the greatest!! Gooseman and Flayra are my heroes :D
Still HL1 got very good reviews and TFC was a nice Multiplayer mod, it made me switch from UT and quake, so I guess HL2 would had been made no matter what, but probably not as good tho ;)

Mod Makers are awesome, it's just the same as artists, creative people using tools to express themselves or tell a story, hats off to them all.

i concur wholeheartedly, although i cant get into some mods personally, (DoD for example), you can just see the amount of work and talent gone into it.. and it does look amazing... especially the uber high texture looking environments and buildings. fantastic :)
NS is Brilliant too!

As to why I was sitting in the shower... I wasn't really sitting I was standing if you're gonna get technical. And as to why I was in the shower... I was bathing, so I won't be dirty or smell bad. Besides, some of my best ideas I think of in the shower.
