Hi guys,

I'm having a huge problems with my DVD-Drive. I need to unplug it so that windows starts for some reason. My friend told me to disable the IDE-2 channel (secondary) from bios, to see if that does anything.

However, if I go into bios, all I can do is disable secondary master and slave, but I can't find the option that allows me to disable IDE-2 totally. I am overlooking something.

Please help it is getting really annoying. PS: I have an Asus motherboard.

PPS: Is the option in the advance tab, in the main tab, any help would be greatly apprechiated.

Thanks.

Your dvd will be either a master or a slave, so if disabling one doesnt work then it will be the other.
Alternatively, go into device manager and disable your drive from there.

That's what I thought. But is there a option that disables the entire IDE cable, rather than me disabling the master and the slave seperatly (both my DVD drives are on the secondary)

Open your case and un plug it? Why do you need to un plug it at all even?

how do u know that the dvd drive is the cause of not starting up?????? ive never heard of unplugging the dvd drive for it to work is a friend telling you to do this and hes guessing? if windows isnt starting up it might be the hardrive not a cd/dvd drive

Never heard of a DVD-Drive preventing windows from starting :| ..... i agree with Giant though it may be the HDD more then anything.

Just open the case and unplug both of the drives, then they will no longer be present in the bios, et voila, you have no dvd drives.

Check the jumpers on the DVD drives, if they're both set to master, for example, it can hang on boot for a long time...

Is windows not working?

I had a similar problem, the first place I would check are the jumpers on the HDD, what are they set to? What settings are there?

Figured it out, there's this godamn pin on the back of both my DVD drives and it set them both to master for some reason.

those would be the jumpers that were mentioned above
