Hey guys. I had a quick question for you about updating the BIOS. I know how to it and everything but theres one thing I'm confused about. There are three different BIOS update downloads. This is the link:http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/it/mb/bios.asp?pro_id=65
My question is to update the BIOS do I have to do all three different files or is the top one (R1.06). And if I do have to use each different one, it wont override the other one will it? Thanks.

You can update the BIOS?? I thought that the BIOS was stored as Read Only memory on the motherboard?

Yep you can definately update your bios, though it's usally only a good idea if it's a big update to how the board is being run or you're having problems with your current version, otherwise it could cause a lot of annoying issues.

And on the question, R1.06 is probably going to have all the previous updates included in it, but i'm not positive, there's no readme in the info. But if i was going to put bets they'd probably include all the previous revisons, though, if you want to be sure, the best idea is run them in order, excluding the first one.
R1.02
R1.04
R1.06

Then if they are individual updates then they'll all be added, if they're full updates then you're not going to end up writing over some options with others. But like i said, updates to bios can cause some annoying issues sometimes.

I'd advise you only to update your bios if you absolutely have 2, if something goes wrong it could feck your motherboard up good and proper witch I found out about 4 months ago.
I updated with the offical update from the manufacturers site, All went ok but the next day my system started to lockup for no reason, To cut a long story short I had to get a new mobo
So think very carefully before you go updating your bios.

Well I recently bought a 512MB PC3200 Kingston HyperX stick of RAM and its been messing up a lot lately and one of the bios updates is to improve DDR400 so hopefully it will help.

Just do the latest one. Read the directions and use common sense, and the update should go fine.

It's not just ROM, it's EEPROM.

Hey fellas. Always lurking around the boards, so, why not post already?

Anyway, that problem could indeed be bad memory. You should go find Memtest and run it. Get errors? Take out a stick and try again. If none show any errors, then you might want to try that update...
