I cant seem to get into my BIOs! I looked in my AMD Athlon booklet and it says..

"Power on the computer and the system will start POST (Power On Self Test) process. When the message below appears on the screen, press <DEL> key to enter Setup.

DEL:Setup
F11:Boot Menu
F12:Network boot
TAB:Logo "


none of this works. i tried all these buttons but no luck. All it does is jamm up my keyboard and my keyboard doesnt work on XP which makes me have to restart the computer again.

Can some 1 help me get my BIOS working? why wont it work

My Specs:

AMD Athlon 3200+ 2.21ghz
1gig RAM, 160 gb space
ATI Radeon x850 ($500 dolla card)
WinXp, 6 fans inside

Umm, no. That's a PS/2 keyboard.

And bios is a Motherboard thing, the CPU has nothing to do with the bios, besides being recognized and modified (clockspeed wise) within it.

Check your motherboard manual. That should show you how to get in.

But is this a prebuilt pc? As in, from a brand such as Compaq or Dell? If so, then i'm affraid that there's a very good chance that you won't be able to get into your bios. They sometimes disable it to limit customer service calls from customers who screwed over their pc in their bios. Or they just really limit the bios to just drive editing and such.

I think damn near everybody knows about Comp USA and their shitty service. They tried to sell a tablet that was not the one I wanted once, and I kept telling them "that's not the 300 USD tablet I want!" and the asshole pulled the manager over. Guy went up to the box and said "they just write it different on the box. It's really the same thing!"

That 50$ piece of shit was not the 300$ Intous3 I wanted.

Anyway, are you sure it was "Custom" built, and that they didn't just shove an HP in your face? I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Can you take a picture of the pc and show it to us?

Are you just pressing Del once? You need to keep pressing it quickly from the moment your computer comes on in order to hit the "sweet spot" when it detects you hitting the Del key.

Well, first off, why do you need to go into the BIOS? If nothing needs fixing then there is no reason to go into the BIOS. Second, if you are looking to overlock or change some settings to make your computer run "faster", then you most likely your BIOS won't have many or any of those features considering its a pre-built.

How you get into your BIOS configuration utility depends entirely on your BIOS and not at all on your processor. If you want to know how to access it, check your motherboard manual.

Some other common keys/key combinations to get into the BIOS config are Esc, F1, F2, and Ctrl + Alt + Esc.

im trying to make battlefield 2 run smoother. I heard making the AGP size to 256 battlefield 2 runs smooth? I think mine is currtly on 128?

If a ps/2 keyboard doesn't work...try using a USB keyboard to get into BIOS. Also try turning the num lock light on and off to see if the keyboard is still responding at that point.

Might as well forget it. Setting the size of the AGP aperature is notorious for providing extremely minor yet completely unpredictable results. No reason not to, really, but don't expect it to help.
