"Now THIS is the kind of stuff i would want to see in Bioshock 2. No silly Soviets or Giant Squids.

Summary: You're a Big Daddy, and you get to use the drill and rivet gun. And you can use plasmids too. You can take little sisters from other Big Daddies and take them around Rapture to collect ADAM like you see happening in BioShock 1.

It's 10 years since the first game. The Big Sister returns to rapture, bringing back the Little Sisters with her. You play as the original Big Daddy. You can use the drill, the rivet gun, and you can still use plasmids.

Little Sisters have been given a new look to be less creepy, as you're seeing them from the eyes of their protectors. You don't get your own Little Sister from the start, as you're a renegade Big Daddy. So you fight other Big Daddies to get your own sister. You can still harvest them, but the other option has been changed to "adopt" instead of rescue. If you adopt the sister, she'll ride on your shoulders, and you can go around Rapture looking for corpses for her to collect ADAM from. When your sister goes to harvest ADAM, a wave of Splicers will come and start attacking to try and harvest her. You have to hold them off until she finishes harvesting. You gain some ADAM from this, but not enough to tide you through the game. You can permanently rescue them, but the article doesn't say how.

The Big Sister is one of the surviving little sisters from the last game. She's the new ruler of Rapture, and is the main antagonist of the game. With each Big Daddy you kill, the game lets you know how close you are to incurring the wrath of the Big Sister. When you do, the little sister you're with will sing a song about how the Big Sister doesn't want you playing with her, then you get jumped.

Other info: Vita Chambers return, there is confirmed multiplayer(no details), audio logs are back, and Fontaine Futuristics is a level in the game.

There are screenshots of the mag floating around now confirming this."

oh my..... I like the concept of actually being a big daddy...

But it seems more like an idea for an expansion and not a full game. I mean, I don't recall the big daddies having plasmids.. or being as intelligent as regular human being.... so you are like a super big daddy? Seems kind of silly.

I said it in the last thread and I'll say it again, but I loathe how badly snapped those photographs are. If I was in posession of the magazine and I knew they were going to attract quite a large number of views, I would make sure I got some pretty good pictures before I uploaded them to the 'net.

This article reads so badly to me. Going in detail to explain about getting jumped every now and again for when your Little Sister is harvesting a corpse does not excite me in anyway whatsoever, so why focus so strongly on that miniscule element in the preview? At least I hope it's a miniscule gameplay aspect, because right now it seems to be the 'big guns' of the Bioshock unveiling, or at least from what I can tell of all these little previews appearing over the net.

The thing about the Big Sister confuses me as well. So, you kill some Big Daddies and then she appears after so many? Is she some mini-boss for every now and again or something?

Game doesn't sound appealing to me at all at the moment, but I'll wait for more information.

Hm, so is there a plot or is the whole point of this game just to go around with a Little Sister and harvest Adam until you piss off the Big Sister then kill her? Seems odd that they'd make an entire game out of this concept.

I think it'll be a hoot. I take it they're still using the same engine?

Wow do not want. So all the shit the main character went throught in the first game coupled with the 'good' ending = One of the little sisters going apeshit and becoming this 'Big Sister', who is abducting these children from coastal sites.

K.

Also wtf @ the scans. Is there any text in the preview or just screenshots everywhere?

This is ****ing STUPID.
What the ****.

What happened to the good old plot-driven and unique Bioshock???

**** this shit.

we dont need a sequel just yet, let 5 years pass then do a proper sequel

Vita chambers are back? So what, was the original big daddy Ryan's cousin or something?

**** this.

Goodbye failed Randian ideas. Hello game-length escort mission.

You could harvest them. Poof no escort required. Besides if you're believing the whole game is going to be based entirely around what you've been told in one magazine preview months before release you're a fool.

Tenenbaum has something to do with the Big Sister's creation. Which I'm sure will be explored to a certain extent.

I agree that its dumb to make a judgement on a game off of one little preview, but I have to say...from the way the guy describes it it sounds..very tacted on. Maybe it'll be good, lets just hope it doesn't become an annual release for these guys...

The preview sounds shit. I hope that's just because the juicy stuff is being kept under wraps.

Judging the sequel of the awesome Bioshock on a sneak preview? Come on guys. This game will have a deep story, maybe better than the original. The contrary would be most illogical.

Neither was it bad. It also seems better due to the even lower quality of most of its contemporaries.

I had rather a lot of fun playing (most of) Bioshock, and its story also kept me interested for a while after finishing it, which is more than can be said about most games. Therefore I consider it a good game.

I got the mag itself.
Bah.

I also got the mag and I've just double checked on There'sSomethingintheSea, and have found that it has not been furtherly updated. I think that's all we're going to get until the trailer is released. I'm going to sum up what I think in a post soon enough.

This kinda ruins the entirety of the teaser site, they just launch out with the picture while they are still slowly weedling around to the blurry crap photo of the Big sister on the site, huge waste. Anyone remember the teaser site for Resistance? That one was fantastic.

And the focus on being a Big Daddy is all about the advertising, it was even touted hard for the first one, much like the big daddy/ little sister fights and the multiple ways to kill him. Only thing is that WAS the best part of Bioshock. It might even relate to how much bitching the nearly lack of big daddy playtime the first one showed

I enjoyed the first game, but I wouldn't consider it a great game or anything. Mostly I think my problem is that it set up some pretty amazing ideas and then didn't follow up on them. Like you know you trust the first guy and he betrays you, and you then you're called a puppet and some other names, and told to just goddamn think for yourself for once, and instead of doing that you trust the nazi lady and hey it turns out that was the right thing to do.

I also don't understand how when you were undergoing the process of becoming a big daddy, and they said you wouldn't be able to go back, how the ending is supposed to work since you, well, did.

The problems with the first game aside, I'd kind of love the idea of a sequel if it did surpass the first one in terms of excellence. But that's not what we're getting here from the sound of things. It does sound like an expansion pack with very repetitive gameplay, which is just all manner of disappointing. I like the world they created, I wish they'd take this in a better direction.

Well, I am yet to be fully commited to the game one way or another, however, if the reaction from all of you is any indication then 2K Marin might just have bite off far more then they could chew on this one. For their sake, and the sake of the original BioShock that I loved, I'm gonna hope that this game is a success despite this apparantly negative initial response.

It sounds really bad. They're taking the lamest part of BioShock and making an entire game out of it. And having escort missions as a central gameplay feature? Who could possibly think that that isn't the one of the worst ideas you could possibly have in a game?

Dunno. Fans of Episode One maybe.

Well, if you mean Alyx, then it wasn't really an escort mission because you were about 100 times more likely to die than she was. If anything she was escorting you. If you mean the actual escort mission at the end, that is the perfect example of why escort missions should die in a fire. They are so terrible that not even Valve can make one fun.

Yeah, those end mission escorts in Ep1 where completely unneeded. I don't think that BS2 will be one long escort mission though, and the more I read about, the more intriguing it sounds.

Still, playing as a Big Daddy ... wut? It would make for a nice little sequence, but for the whole game?
