Yup, I am also expecting a Doom 4 announcement as well, but hopefully a trailer and maybe even some gameplay footage too.

SHIT BETTER BE DOOM 4 DON'T YOU GET MY HOPES UP LAMBDA ONLY FOR ID TO DASH THEM YOU BASTARD

Maybe they will make it good this time.

If they set it on Earth and bring back the kill everything gameplay rather than the fumbling in the dark with a flashlight with monsters in the closet stuff then I will be set.

A redone Doom 2 would be awesome if done right, IMHO. But based on what ID has said in the past, it'll be a reboot of Doom, ignoring Doom 3. If this is the course they are still planning on presenting, then I hope they do some things different. Or, at least, have better level design. I liked Doom 3, but one of the biggest problems I saw was a lackluster level design at the first half of the game.

A reboot following a reboot. I hue'd, thought about it some more, then I hua'd.

I couldnt care less about the doom franchise in any way shape or form. I mean the original was fun and all but that was a long time ago. monster closets just dont do it for me nowadays and I dont care how pretty/non pretty id engines are they still make for the most part ho-hum games. I like it better when 3rd party developers work on id products, they're not hampered by the complete lack of creativity

if anyone is interested check out neogaf for the "apparent" leak for irrational's game (there is some doubt)

i wont post here tho

Then I will:

Bioshock Infinity - Project Icarus is Bioshock in the clouds

According to industry insiders Irrational Games is working on a new Bioshock game. This time, however, is not under the seas, but through the clouds.

According to yet unconfirmed rumors that we have picked up the QuakeCon on, this is where the working title "Project Icarus" developed under new game developer Irrational Games to Bioshock Infinity . That it should players in a futuristic city in the clouds, the sly. An official confirmation of the developers is still the hour, until further notification is therefore as this rumor.

Initial indications had the site Whatisicarus.com for weeks already given. So writes the white point of a figure 8 - the sign for infinity (English: "Infinity"). Also, the project name "Icarus" fits the cloud scenario. After all, the tragic figure fell from Greek mythology with artificial wings made of wax and feathers to his death because he flew to the sun was close to the heat and vibration which fell apart. The same metaphor for ruthless technological progress using well Eidos Montreal Deus Ex: Human Revolution .

More will be on Infinity Bioshock Irrational Games show tonight in a first teaser trailer. We will keep you on course to date.

Set your bullshit detectors to stun though, because like Lambda said there is some doubt.

Link?

Edit: Just realized my mistake, feel free to delete this retarded post.

****, not another biocock. it stinks.

Edit: this is ****ing bullshit.

Bioshock Infinite confirmed

So much for new IP!! Still should be good

That Irrational trailer looks sweet though I could do without all the patriotic bullshit though. Wonder how that will play into everything. Interesting too to have a city in the clouds while everything looks fine on earth with green and presumably fertile fields below. Now post-apocalyptic nightmare future here...just dystopia I guess? I will keep a sharp eye on this one.

Anyone wanna bet the game ends with the city crashing?

Also, what does chaffi mean?

One of the posters in the trailer says "Burden not Columbia with your Chaffi"

So, logically, wouldn't space be the next step for the series after they do air?:D

A 'true' spiritual successor to System Shock?(including setting-wise)

Edit: Digi, u gettin' old and hence slow!

hey its set before bioshock! how is this a bioshock game?! o_O

a true successor? no. a true console garbage? yes.

Apparently the release date is 2012 at least their not annualising the franchise

RPS has loads and loads of details:

Columbia is the city of the future circa 1900, created a sort of moving World Fair, travelling the world to show the sheer power and majesty of the rising newly technological America – the Moon Landing of its day. Levine argues that between 1880 and 1900 America transformed from this Agrarian backwater to a rising technological power that ended up claiming the 20th century as its own.

Inevitably, it goes wrong. The World Fair was secretly weaponized, covered in cannons which go and do what cannons are made for. It goes rogue, causes a terrible international incident and disappears into the clouds never to be seen again.

Skip forward a few years, when in a Chandlerian move ex-Pinkerton, strikebreaker and general low-life Booker DeWitt is hired to find a woman. This Elizabeth is missing. DeWitt can handle this. It’s what he does. The only problem is that she’s apparently in Columbia… and the mysterious figure hiring you says he can get you there.

Arriving, you discover that she’s not exactly a pure victim. She’s enormously powerful, and she’s caught in the middle of the storm which is tearing apart Columbia. You have to escape, together, and combine your abilities to do so.

Cool CG movie, but I had enough of Bioshock a couple hours into the first one.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--2K Games announced today that BioShock® Infinite, a first-person shooter, is currently in development at Irrational Games, the studio behind the original BioShock® which has sold over 4 million units worldwide. Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky. BioShock Infinite is currently planned for release during calendar 2012.

Originally conceived as a floating symbol of American ideals at a time when the United States was emerging as a world power, Columbia is dispatched to distant shores with great fanfare by a captivated public. What begins as a brand new endeavor of hope turns drastically wrong as the city soon disappears into the clouds to whereabouts unknown.

The player assumes the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the lost city to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned there since childhood. He develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.

There is also a main page for the video somewhere, but it wont load for me at all. I heard others are having problems too.

General discussion and such of the game. :D

Looks better than the second, perhaps. Change of scenery would be nice.

I don't know if this is a good idea bringing Bioshock out of water. I could understand creating a new immersive environment, but what they are doing would probably be better off as a different game.

Bioshock has always had strong horror elements in it. Being located in the sky instead of water could take away a large chunk of fear. Heck, a lot of scares well made in the first Bioshock was completely lacking in Bioshock 2.

I think Bioshock should have explored the deep water abyss more. They had the opportunity to use giant sea monsters as an enemy (which would have freaked the crap out of me). Giant fast moving sharks running around will create so much tension in the game, especially if the vision is limited. A giant shark popping up in your face would be so awesome.

ken levine can suck my dick.

I also felt it could have been it's own game.

Sooooooo, this is the new and original I.P. they were talking about?

F*ck off.
