Bioshock is now available on Steam for those in North America who have pre-purchases and pre-loaded the game.[br]
BioShock is one of the most critically-acclaimed games in years, with a 97% average Metacritic rating. Players enter the game as a castaway in Rapture, an underwater utopia torn apart by civil war. Caught between powerful forces and hunted down by genetically modified "splicers" and deadly security systems, players have to come to grips with a deadly, mysterious world filled with powerful technology and fascinating characters. No encounter ever plays out the same and no two gamers will play BioShock the same way.

Haha everyone's playing instead of posting :p. Too bad I have to wait for the game to update as I was out of town when the game launched.

I pre-purchased and pre-laoded, yet it is still making me download more - after decryping hte files, it's making me download another couple/few hundred MBs. Starting at 82% downloaded, I have already downloaded an additional 196MB and I am only at 89%... I guess there were 2 pre-download sessions?
Anyway, I played the demo last night. One word: spectacular and very spooky (OK, 4 words).

Im like 2 hours into the game and i have found so many little interesting secrets its insane. Story is very cool also.

I would be playing this game, but after the demo gave me so many problems I think I'll wait until a few more fixes arrive.

This game's pretty good. I give it a 6/10 (Meh +1) from the introduction and 3 minutes I played before I had to go. Please notify Metacritic so they may post my review into the average.

The demo cannot start. Steam said that "the game is currently not available". :(
How can I solve this?

Very cool game, but you gotta spend your time looking around!

I am really pissed off. I did everything, restarting my computer, deleting my SteamClient, defrag the game file. Bioshock demo still shows that the game is unavailable.

and you need a videocard thats supports Shader Model 3.0 to play it. ;(

If you want advice over why your game/demo won't run/install try the Steampowered forums, I'm sure you'll find all the answers you require there, rather than spamming 3 posts in the same thread here on the off chance. :dozey:

Halflife2.net failed me :|

Edit: Okay, got it. If anyone encounters similar problem, go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\bioshock demo\vcredist and
install vcredist_x86.exe will solve the problem.

Kick ass.. but i'll buy it for x360 when i get one soon.

Well.. here in Europe it's 2:08:19:22 until we can play it :|

Ahh I'm stuck at work, can't wait to get home and play soonish. 4 hours + :( Good feedback so far!

You cant play it anyway Glenn, they've got sodding shite activation crap on it.

Wow I almost wish I bought it on steam, because the retail version is a DRM-infested piece of shit. You get 2 activations. Install on one PC, install on your laptop, then if you decide to reformat your hard drive guess what? Your $50 game is now a $50 coaster!! Thanks 2k for punishing your customers who paid tons of money for your game...meanwhile the 360 users are free to rent or lend the game and even sell it when they don't want it anymore.

Guess I won't be buying that retail then...

Unfortunately I just found out that it's also with the steam version and direct2drive as well. There's no way to play Bioshock (PC) without installing secu-rom (rootkit) on your computer.

Man I don't want to install extra stuff on the PC. I guess I will wait for Xbox.
