Bioware announces announcement

Actually I quite like this approach. It allows the world and mythology to be developed without having to shoehorn loads of intrusive exposition into the games.
Agreed. It often ends up a more tasteful experience because facts about the game world are thrown out naturally, instead of awkwardly set up in some cutscene dialogue to make absolutely sure that every single person who bought the game knows exactly what's going on.

EA really seems determined to dethrone call of duty

I wonder if it will play as the second,wich I dont know if it will be good for a multiplayer game

The problem is when they hire mediocre writers who really aren't interested in the game universe at all but rather just view it as another source of income for them.

Good fiction is written by people passionate about the subject, the way I see it.

Seemed pointless to make a new thread. So I'll just put this here:
http://www.destructoid.com/mass-effect-2-player-choice-statistics-are-surprising-188362.phtml
* 83% of players created their own face for Shepard
* 82% play as male Shepard, 18% as female Shepard
* The Soldier class is far and away the most popular class at 65%
* <Archangel> was among the most popular squad members selected for missions
* 10% of players never let <The Krogan> out of <his/her thing>
* Only 50% of players have fully upgraded the <Ship> by the end of the game
* 14% of squad members die in the end-game, on average
* 36% of players chose the <Renegade choice> in the end-game

No doubt Bioware closely monitors all this as they make their next RPG/Mass Effect.

Announcing another Mass Effect property with ME3 already in development, not to mention they're also making DA2 and have an absurdly expensive MMO on their hands? I'm banking on it being some stupid DLC or something. Or just that ME3 will be coming to PS3, if that wasn't already announced. I mean, have they really gotten so big that they can handle four full games at once?
While speculation continues to run rampant over BioWare's Spike VGAs teaser trailer, an anonymous rep from Sony Russia has poured a ten-ton can of gasoline over the rumor fire by "confirming" Mass Effect 3 at the show. At least temporarily.

According to translations, SCEE Russia's Twitter feed updated to say, "Company BioWare Award for VideoGameAwards showed a teaser, in which we can see the first footage MassEffect 3. Naturally, this update was swiftly taken down, but not before the Internet plucked it from the ether.

Sony Russia screwed up in one of two ways -- it revealed a genuine game too early, or it got the game wrong. Either way, this will only keep people guessing until December 11.

I didn't know they monitored this kind of stuff.

I think its stupid that people care what gender you played Shepard as, or calling people who consider Shepard to be a man/woman "wrong".

The story made Mass Effect great, not the combat. I would much rather have the conclusion than a stinking prequel to play

Amen to this, but comeon, let's not fool ourselves, there will not be a definite conclusion with third, they'll continue to expand the story both with new games and new books and so forth.

I bet my one remaining functional testicle on it.

Even Halo finished the trilogy before wallowing in prequel stew, so ME should probably do that

Why? I can have an opinion, and my opinion is that Male Shepard ****ing sucks. So yeah, I do kind of care when the huge percentage of people don't chose the better acted, more appropriate character, in favor of a completely unemotional, boring, trying-so-hard-to-sound-like-a-man voice actor.
It shows how uncreative, narrow minded, and boring gamers are. You are literally given the choice between Ellen Ripley, and Buzz Lightyear; and 82% chose Buzz Lightyear.

I've only ever played as Male Shepard :(

Maybe I will try playing as Femme Shep in ME3.

I'm about to start playing Mass Effect for the first time and I was wondering about the gender of my character. From videos and trailers, male Shepard looks sort of a dumb and boring macho. Do you think that female Shepard is a more interesting character?
Is the game biased towards a male character, like Fallout 3, or is the gender playable as a totally different and satisfying experience? Am I losing something from playing female instead of male?

The game is almost exactly the same, but with a better voice actor.

Femshep is also dumb and macho, but in the best way. The voice is made to be played as renegade. Whenever I tried to play male shep I just wanted to play him like a pussy and be nice to everyone because he sounded so dull.

Well, I only played Shep as renegade on my fourth playthrough of ME1, haven't played as renegade in ME2.

But I can agree with what you say, Shepard sounds very dull, and like a bit of a wimp.
