yea, I'm a moron.

I say it again I'm a big prat.

I trusted valve like I did with TF2 release dates (haha) and upgraded my machine for hl2 on 30th.... it is now delayed and i feel i wasted my money due to lack that once HL2 and other games i.e Doom3 are out my system will need upgrading again.

I feel a right dick.
I am upset as i should of took everyones advice here and everywhere else and wait to upgrade yet i got too excited.
I now own the following and my question is how long till its out of date and wont even atempt to run HL2 full whack.
Bascily i just asking on advice if my upgrade will run HL2 full still when its out....
God the beating my dad gave me on amount i spent lol.
I HAD:
xp2200 266 212 l2 cache
512mb pc2700 ram 266 fsb
radeon 9700 pro 128meg 4agp
gigabyte 7vrxp kt333

is now a:
XP3000 512 l2 cache 333fsb
512 pc3200 333 fsb ram
radeaon 9700 pro 8agp
msi 7kn delta nforce 2

Can i have some advice,oh before everyone says its a show off post sorry if it comes across thaty way. I am not trying to show off this is only place i thought i post as i am worried ok, honest.

p.s in long run hl2 delay was good as last week i broke my wrist so i be ****ed to play haha

Regards
Warren.

Wow, geez that wont even run half life 1 let alone hl2 might as well bin it and start over.

I wonder wether any of these questions are real or wether people just want to boast about their new pc. FFS, halflife2 will run dx6 hardware, valve have said it multiple times...

...they were talking about 800 mhz, geforce 2 cards being able to run it (low detail) and you're worried aoubt your XP 3000 and Radeon 9700 - one of the fastest cards you can get. Stop to think about the people who can't afford the latest kit (becasue they earn their own money and daddy doesn't but it all for them)

ok flame over.

seriously these posts are the worst

dude, chill. hl2 will run fine on this machine.

lol that specs fine.

I'm using an AXP 2800+ on an a7n8x deluxe, with a raddy 9800 as of tommorow :D

i knew i get flames, i honest to god mean this post from my heart.

i am not a rich ma i rarely go out thats how i save for hardware.
last week i went out a **** spiked my drink i wake up in a front garden lost broken wrist and ****ed nose.

i kinda upset and off work (hehe)

Just thought i find out if this would run it with AA etc.

the claim about 700mhz to run it wont even boot it, every companie syas that about games and u poor things beleaving it buying game find they get 1 fps on title screen.

I have a VIC-20. Will it runnah teh gameh?!?!?1+ OLOLOLOLOL!!!!

...

Edit: Ok I sympathize with your situation, but the game will be out in a jiffy (at least I hope), so just hold on.

I wouldnt even wanna run the original HL on what they are suggesting are the minimum specs for HL2 ...... it would be too painful tbh.

Always planned to wait until HL2 at least goes gold before I upgrade either/both of my rigs (P4 2.4ghz GF3 and XP2000 GF4) and anyone who has upgraded soley on the basis of a Valve release date must be a tad mad tbh ..... do you guys not remember theoriginal HL release dates and delays ?

If you were due and upgrade anyway then fair enough but if your basis for upgrading is mainly HL2 then waiting will mean better parts available than there are now or the same parts that are availbale now but at a cheaper price.

Your original machine would have probably run it fine as well.

lol just becuase you updated for hl2.. and it got delayed.. doesn't mean hl2 will require any more power to max out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you just want the best machine of all your friends when hl2 comes out,

you sir are dumb.

nah its i got paid had nothing better to dp apart from buy a new monitor and then i got addicted and got upgrade.

just hoping the system will run hl2 full whack with aa and stuff

There aint a system out atm that will run it full belt with everything on and probs wont be for quite some time.

In the 5 years ive been playing the original HL ive upgraded at various diff points and its only this last 18 months that systems have been availalbe to give virtually optimal performance all the time in HL multiplayer (we all strive for the constant 100fps)

I exepect at least a couple of upgardes with kit that aint out yet to be able to run HL2 at decent levels for multiplayer .... assuming the gameplay speeds is similair to that of the current HL

u saying no system out now will run hl2 in 1024x768 full detail and 4 AA and FSAA
?!?!

Hah, sorry I left the moron part in there ;)

What's funny is that except for the 9700, you have pretty much the same system as me (i have an 8500) yet I'm not even going to upgrade until I get my hands on the benchmark. If HL2 did come out the 30th, yes, I would have still waited to upgrade after my purchase.

You are a right dick... whatever that is.

jk man, don't worry about your system, it'll be fine for another 2 or 3 years.

Maybe I don't know a lot about RAID, but if you don't have over 100+GB of HD space, I'm not sure how that is a bragging post. :cheese:

^^ It just means that if one of his raptors dies, he's screwed.. so essentially he has 2x the chance for data loss ;) RAID 0 can allow your system to read and write at the same time, so it is faster performance wise than a single drive, which is impressive.. but I agree.. 36gb of hd space, regardless of the fact that its faster and is serial ATA does not constitute bragging rights :D Come back when you've got a 200gb RAID 0+1 Array, On-board firewire and usb 2.0, a 64-bit processor and a 512mb pci-express graphics card hehe. Wont that be awesome?
