So anyone work in retail on black Friday? This will be the first time I've worked during this time of the year and so far I've heard nothing but horror stories from the people I work with. Suffices to say, I'm kinda worried becuase I'm working in the late afternoon (5:00PMEST) until about 11:00PM, and I'll be on my own working in the stock room in a fairly large retailer.

I'm just hoping I don't get fisted by all the sales floor people who want to know why I haven't checked their DPCI yet.

edit: **** my spelling sucks balls tonight.

Thank god I don't work at retail. *whew* I get Friday off! :D

I worked black friday last year, as well as every day of the christmas week, including christmas eve. It suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked.

I was working at Sears then, and I was one of the guys who's sole job is to put up all the signs and decorations you see in there. The store was 3 stories, and each floor was pretty big, so thats a lot of ground to cover. However, the worst day was the thursday before black friday. I was schedualed from 1-9, but everyone knew we were just going to stay until the job was done. I got there at one, and didnt leave until 5am friday, just an hour before the store opened. Then I had to come back in friday to take down all the shit i just put up.

Christmas was worse because the store hours are such that the place is only closed a few hours a day (which is when I started work usually) which meant that we had a very small window to put up signs and decorations for every ****ing thing in the whole 3 story store.

Somehow though, I remember those days fondly. I think it was because the job itself was pretty laid back, and I just wore a headset and listened to sweet music while working.

EDIT: Wait, no. That was two years ago.

Wait until people start shitting on the floor.

i always thought boxing day was the busiest shopping day of the year.

Yep. Thankfully it was just in the bathrooms. But it was in both bathrooms, on the second floor and basement floor. Which confuses me, because if they wanted to get a rise out of someone, they should have done it outside the bathroom, and if they just had to shit, they could have made it 3 more feet to one of the toilets.

Still it was so rank, and stunk up both floors.

You have my deepest condolences, seriously. People are disgusting sometimes.

Working in retail is my idea of hell, the general public are ****s. Working in my uncle's digital camera shop for a week was enough to completely deplete my faith in humanity! Good luck to you my friend, be sure to take a helmet and some kind of melee weapon with you.

Third Thursday of November.... this Thursday. :O

I work fast food, but my boss is letting me come in late so I can get some shopping in...
