black mesa = cool name?

Do you think Black Mesa as a name was a really good pick for a name, or was it just that it's the HL location and HL is the coolest game ever~

Valve picked the most sciency and cool names they could think of. Hence not only Black Mesa, but Resonance Cascade, the Lambda, and Half-Life itself.

Black Mesa is an acctually area somewhere out in Nevada I think.... Either that or Arizona.

Well, in the Arizona / New Mexico area in the Mohave and Sonoran Deserts there are a lot of Mesas. I think Valve chose somewhere remote, and non cliche (not Nevada / Area 51 . But New Mexico) and then chose a name that reflects the geography.

I imagine if it was in Michigan it might be called Great Lakes Research Facility?
