Black Mesa East

Ok, Black Mesa east has always been a buggy chapter. This time, when I got there, everything was going well. After Alyx opens the door to where she shows you the passage to Ravenholm, i decided to stop playing for a while. After loading it again, she goes on about Ravenholm and how nobody goes there anymore, but after that, she just stops. She isnt frozen because i can see her body still sways around, but does not walk. I even tried doing the ai_disable/ai_resume commands, but that did not help. I tried loading back a few checkpoints, but other characters freeze in the same way she did. I decided to use the cheat and spawn me to black mesa east with the d1_eli_01 cheat. that was the only way i could get this to work. My question is, is this a regular glitch or something?
