Black Mesa - Mod Update

The Black Mesa team have recently released an update on their progress along with a bevy of new media shots emerging.[br]Most critically the team have revealed that they have adopted the Orange Box box build of the Source engine and announced that when released the mod will only require one Source based game to be installed to run the mod.[br]The team also expect a new video to emerge sooner rather than later. I dont see why zombieturtle feels he needs to "defend" bms from people criticizing it, obviously the bms devs do not feel the need or they would have responded, so why do you even care? Let the mod speak for itself, it is afterall, what ends up being released that will be judged, not what media screenshot releases show. You are never going to make people like something they do not, so stop trying, you just define yourself as a typical fanboy who overreacts to any slightly negative critical comment made about anything related to bms.

I think *if i understand correctly* the reason some people frown upon bms is because some of the things they do are questionable and seem to thrive on getting popular but not as concerned about finishing the actual mod. Their media releases to date have shown nothing really gameplay wise, just map screens and model renders, which is why I think many doubt this mods "real" progress. My personal view of bms is they have some nice looking content, but some obvious contrast in quality which is understandable given the size of their development team. I could care less if they release since I am more interested in original mods than trying to relive the glorydays if you will, but I can understand why there are people who think bms is the ultimate mod and thats ok. Some people mod to develop their skills, some because its something to pass time, and others to be popular or have status (lawl). Regardless if this mod ever gets released, I wish them luck because I know how much effort must be put into creating halflife from scratch, do I think it will release? Yes, but I do not think it will be nearly as epic as people are anticipating/hoping for.

Agreed. The apparent editing down of this thread in order to hide the playground attitudes expressed previously is quite laughable tbh.

Frankly it's not a surprise there is less and less mod news here, given unless you've a connection to the site you're mods going to panned without thought by people who should know better at the end of the day. :dozey:

The "apparent editing down" consisted me of deleting all posts in the thread bar Evo's original one, effectively giving the thread a fresh start. I'm so glad that you see that as laughable.

Also, I still don't get where this "panning" bollocks is coming from. Neither myself nor Samon slated Black Mesa. None of the other staff expressed an opinion. So keep your condescending smileys to yourself.

Any particular reason for deleting all those posts? Aside from 'I have the powah!!!'. Some fair points were brought up by members of the community, and that their comments might not sit too well with you personally in your holy sanctum doesn't seem to really be a point justification for their removal. Shoving them under the 'deletion' carpet doesn't make them go away, or resolve the underlying issues. Maybe it's time to hang up the gloves before you go fully Dark Elf on us.

Or maybe you should actually try reading what people put before you try to sit in almighty judgement. You would have had far more of a hissy fit if I had only deleted selected posts, choosing which ones were worthy of staying and which had to be deleted.
I wasn't trying to make anything "go away", the discussion was horribly derailed and thread was a train wreck. The underlying issues were not being resolved in the slightest, it was just a constant back-and-forth between the same small group of people.
So, as I quite clearly stated in my previous post, I deleted them all to give the thread a fresh start. You obviously either decided to ignore that or disbelieve it, preferring instead to suggest that I did it for reasons of power abuse.
Believe what you want - I don't have to justify my actions to you, or anyone else. If you think I'm going "fully Dark Elf" then you can live quite happily in that delusion. I care not one jot.

Also, I find your "I have the powah!!!" insinuation particularly insulting. So if that was your intention, congratulations.
