In the first HL Black Mesa claims to be in new mexico, thats in America right? In HL2 we have been told that City 17 is in Europe somewhere. Before "we dont go to ravenholm..." you go through Black Mesa East, where you get the grav gun. How can you go into Black Mesa East when youre in Europe and Black Mesa is in New Mexico, it doesnt make sense?

Please help needed me!

Black Mesa East is what Eli named is labratory. Thats all.
Black Mesa and Black Mesa East and to totally diffrent places located on diffrent continents.

He named it that to remember ol black mesa.

Black mesa is a crater...i like is this tea i want to know why it would be better

How can York be in England and New York in America? OMGWTFBBQ!!!111

Black Mesa East is named since its located in Eastern Europe. Maybe Russia, Moscow.

well, after you disarmed it... you can see G-man activating it again... damn that guy.

It would be better if it was the real black mes coz itd be like viseting parts of the first game and that and having some little resemblance to the first game.
itd be like "wow i walked down there" and "just like the good old days, aliens blood still splattered on the walls"

But it would be completely illogical and completely remove you from the rest of the game. You are on the other side of the world from where BMRF was.

I think Gearbox must have had authority from Valve to nuke black mesa. Valve had to be consulted about everything. Race X, Adrian Shephard, Valve won't touch them in their Half-Life story, but they don't really have much impact on the story as seen by Gordon (if they do they fit it into something which was predesigned). But they're not going to kill gordon or get to hit him with a smelly fish, something we didn't see in HL2.
If Gearbox ever get invited to do a Half-Life 2 expansion, I guess they will go for using Shepard in it.

nah... that boring. plus why would you return to the original black mesa anyway? you already defeated the mighty Nihilanth... but exploring unknown places would be cool!!! :E

I wish someone had enough time to design a pre-disaster Black Mesa, with full access to all areas. :)
I think a lot of people before wanted to do it, but found all the areas overlapped hideously eg Big fighting zone should technically be off the cliff face. And it would have been a mammoth task.

Been discussed lots of times, and while anyone who has played Thief's Cradle will agree with me that a return to Black Mesa could be brilliant...it just wouldn't make sense. Unless it was a dream sequence/hallucination or something.
