Blade Runner news!

I really wish that the PC adventure game would work on XP as I've got a proper BR fever lately. Anyone played it?
Got a copy from eBay and it works great in XP. One of the best adventure games out there. What problems are you having??

This is one fantastic film. One of Harrison's best imho. One of the top 5 sci-fi flicks ever too.

I would argue that this is a very strong contender for best sci-fi of all time. Ford is great in it.

Thank god we don't get the stupid bloody briefcase over here.

[Edit] Wow, it's only ?17.99. That's great for a 5 disc set.

Be sure to pick up Empire magazine for you Brits. It's got a full poster of the movie: http://www.empireonline.com/magazine/ Gonna check out Barnes and Noble and check if they have it. Also be sure to pre-order from this website for you British folks: http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;-1;-1;-1&sku=649849 There is a limited amount of BR keychains with the pre-orders!

Muhahaha, got the new Empire mag with Blade Runner poster; its so beautiful *cries*. Also ?18 for Blade Runner Final Cut? ****ing bargain. Pre-ordered.

How do you know if they've still got any keychains free?

Well hello there Lucy. Ah, the Blade Runner game, its well worth getting hold of a copy. It had multiple endings, like the film I suppose. It was pretty challenging if I remember right. :sniper:

Whos Lucy? Blade Runner game was brilliant, most underrated game I've played imo. Captured the universe perfectly.

:laugh: She was the little girl in the game. In a way, the Blade Runner game was like an expansion to the movie. The book was amazing and very confusing. Basically the book gives you all the answers to your questions and even answers to questions you never thought possible! The Earth is a shit hole. The atmosphere and environment is a radioactive wasteland. In fact Buster, a popular television show, displays fallout severity reports. Much the same with weather reports. So this produced "chicken heads" who have mutated and this is why Sebastian cannot go to offworld, his glands roll over too quickly. So androids were slaves to the rich who could afford to go to the offworld. Some droids get rebellious and kill their owners and hitch a ride to Earth for safety. This is where the Blade Runner comes in. The Earth as I said is in waste because of a WW3 scenario called World War Terminus. The spooky apartment scene is a scene in the book but over time kipple, aka garbage, builds up over time. Scenes in the book include more tests such as the curvature in the spine, blushing and other emotional responses. Why genuine animals are REALLY rare and how Deckard owned a sheep. It even talks a bit about his depressed wife. In fact the ending is very depressing and ends up with Deck screwing Rachael! Now the irony of it is that shes about 15 and later kills Decks sheep. As you can see, the book is vastly different. I highly suggest you pick up a copy of the book. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_Androids_Dream_of_Electric_Sheep? And as for you people who have not seen the basterdized movie version of the book, go see it. Go on limewire or something lol. *Phil has other works which I never read either. One is about what if the nazi's won WW2.

You first come into contact with her (I think) in the taxidermist/replicant animal place thats been raided. Use the ESPER system on the photos/film you get of that place, and Lucy's in there!

"Give me a hard copy of that!"

She's this teenage girl who kinda follows you around, giving you clues, and like you she doesn't know if she's human or replicant...

Ha! Hool10 is in the know!

Cos its your post! Doh!

Deckard owned a sheep!? In the book, yeah!? Coo-el! It was a cat in the game if I remember right

I loved being able to Voight-Kampff people!

But yeah, i feel it captured the atmosphere of the film! Very underrated

It's nice to see another Blade Runner fan and a new forum member! :) Did you know they developed an umbrella similar to the umbrellas on the streets of BR? I heard this a long time ago but I don't know if they are still around. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vMCRofn_98
Ridley Scott and others at first saw the movie as a total failure. He went to one of the first showings and nobody clapped or did anything. They just sat there. Most people actually got confused. It wasn't neccesarily a bad movie it was just a movie too ahead of its time! ;) At that time you had Star Wars and The Terminator blowing shit up left and right. Then you have the dull, confusing BR. If you notice any bios on Harrison Ford they completely leave out that he was in BR. So people are like "wtf, he was in this?!" Most people don't want to think so they ignore Br completely. In the recent years though the movie is coming back in the lime light.

Sorry for double posting but you will see all these scenes (and more) with the final cut extras. Here is a scene with the cop that was shot in the back in the starting of the movie:

This is a scene from the International version. Like I said in the final cut, Tyrell gets more ****ed up:

At the end Roy says to Sebastian "come here" in a calm way too.

That review's for the lamo version though where Ford purposely did the voiceovers badly so they wouldn't use them. I've never seen that version, only the director's cut.

I was wondering, there was a channel 4 documentary on Blade Runner a few years back (I think someone even made a thread about it), will that be on the DVD? Some places I've read it will be, and others don't mention it. Will the 5 discs be the same as the US for the UK? I know we don't get the oragami and something else.

They were taken out because they weren't needed at all. Plus Ford sounded bored as hell.

It may but I don't think so. It has tons of interviews on it anyways. Everything will be the same for the UK and US but there are things cut for you UK people. You don't get the briefcase. You also don't get:
Included is a lenticular motion film clip from the original feature, miniature origami unicorn figurine, miniature replica spinner car, collector's photographs as well as a signed personal letter from Sir Ridley Scott.
Tbh I would get the US version. ;) http://media.bladezone.com/contents/film/SE/SE.php *In fact before I saw BR, my dad saw something odd in EB games and it shocked me that he walked in with me becuase he hates games. He then got this: http://www.amazon.com/Blade-Runner-Limited-Collectors-Set/dp/6305842442 Refuses to take it out of it's wrapping because it's pretty much rare now. I always wonder what film clip we have, lol. More info: http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2...nner-limited-edition-collectors-set-released/

Wait, so deckard doesn't have a sheep in the movie!?

There's no Buster Friendly weather reports?

No radiation?

He doesn't end up ****ing rachel?

Bah, they must have taken alot out.

Are there no spider themes either? How about empathy boxes? Mercerism? That was like the whole point of the book.

None of that type of stuff apart from the relationship with Rachel. The book has a lot more depth to it.

Well he does end up having sex with Rachael. In the book she asked if he ever had sex with a robot before. Then she said if he wanted to, he could have sex with her. In the book he said it was all akward and everything too. In the movie he raped her basically. She didn't want to have sex mainly because she has no feelings as a robot. She even tried to escape but Deck blocked the door.

Ah! The book sounds really good, i've never read any Phillip K. Dick.

:monkee:Sorry for this obtuse tangent, but has anyone seen the film Split Second with Rutger Hauer?

I can't post the link but I really want to! :upstare: This website that I know of has BR streaming fast and it's free. It's the Directors Cut so you're going to have to PM me asking for the link. *Or get me on Steam.
