He uses that to tell where objects around him are. The click sends out a sound wave and it bounces back off the object. Somehow he can hear it come back and can tell how far an object is away from him, the shape and size etc just by the sound that is bounced back.

That's amazing, but how the hell can he play a videogame? The clicking won't bounce off the surroundings in a game, so he can't tell the distance etc..
