I was wondering if anyone was going to be following whats going on this year, I havent seen any threads started yet so I thought id start my own. I think it will be running from august 3rd to the 5th. I hear theres a couple of secret game announcements.. Diablo 3 pls :D.

SC2 news, new WoW expansion news.

Twenty bucks says there's no mention of Diablo.

ADDED: Bah, I'm reading the WoW forums right now and there's definitely been new info released on the next expansion. All I've read so far is the ability to change hairstyles, the introduction of a hero class (Death Knight), and the obligatory raising of the level cap. Also saw mentions of siege weapons, which is awesome, but I don't know where they're all getting their info from exactly. I'd like to see a compendium of new info. Well, I guess this can suffice.

when they will anounce some of starcraft2?

Okay, I've read more on the new WoW expansion and I'm excited as ****.

Official site

This is everything that should have been included in BC. Siege weapons, hero classes, destructible buildings, et cetera... And at least we're fighting a proper villain now instead of the ****ing detour that was Illidan. Can't wait. Also...

NEW DANCES WOOOO

Wonder how that Death Knight class will work, I'm guessing it's a quest for paladins and perhaps warriors. But in the trailer (seen it btw Abs? Pretty cool) a paladin gets overrun by the Lich King's undead and becomes a DK. Would that somehow being a DK align you with the Lich King or was that just for cinematic purposes?

Trailer looked pretty awesome, but it's gonna take one hell of an overhaul to get me back into WoW.

And for the love of god, when are they going to update the graphics engine? Even an optional upgrade, cause even if that looked pretty, it's showing it's age in-game.

I thought the visuals were pretty damn good in the trailer. Maybe it is showing its age (although some of those fire effects were pretty sweet), but once again I think the art direction has prevailed.

The way I understand the Death Knight class, as I've heard from others, is that it will be a quest chain at 80. After making the switch, I've heard that you will start off again at 60. So it will be a relatively arduous process with end-game in mind.

I just hope this isn't the only hero class it will release with. I kind of want a hero class of my own (as a hunter). Also, I'm sure we'll see a shortage of healers across the servers once everybody turns their pally into a Death Knight.

EDIT: Bah, screw it. There's so much conflicting information on Death Knights. I'm hearing on pallys can make one, then only pallys and warlocks, then any race/class. Some say you still retain your original 80 char, others say it gets replaced. I'm so confused. :(

The official word seems to be that you do a quest with your level 80 character to unlock the creation of DK characters. So when you've done the quest, you can create a DK in the character screen, and he will start at 60-70. So no transformation of your current character, which is probably a wise decision because:

a) Talent specs can be reverted, but if a DK transformed your entire character you're stuck with it whether you like it or not.
b) In no time 90% of all players running around would be Death Knights for novelty and there would be no classic classes any more.

And they stated that they wanted to make more hero classes but as of now they're focusing on the Death Knight.

Inscription sounds pretty sweet too.

I'm very iffy about Inscription. Permanently buffing a classes abilities seems too much. It's bad enough that I receive 5k frostbolt crits from mages.

Of course, I don't know what exactly it is. And I'm sure there will be sane restrictions on it. But at face value, I don't like it.

the starcraft2 site has been updated whit the terran section

Son of a bitch just when I thought I could quit WoW those ****ers had to come out with this >_>

Will there be any graphical enhancements?

Yes. We're currently working on some technical enhancements to the game's graphics, and we'll be discussing these further in the months ahead.

i love how everyone on the forum just bashes the crap out of the expansion pack when they haven't even given out all of the features and how they work.

IMO warhammer online looks pretty generic. WH40K MMO plz.

AoC looks pretty good, but i've yet to play it, and can't judge it

This irks me so unbelievably much. WoW forums are like "DEATHKNIGHT IS A BAD CONCEPT," and I think...how do they know exactly how they're going to implement it, when Blizzard probably isn't 100% sure on the route they're to take when implementing the death knight?

I have to admit... Death Knights are pretty lame from a lore perspective.

They should have just waited until WoW 2 to introduce Scourge as a faction or something. Death Knights would make sense there.

Well looks like I'll probably renew my subscription when this rolls around >_> I'll probably start on a new server though. The server I was on when I quit was a bunch of assholes :D

I just hope that they don't make deathknight's own everything in the game by default, and with them being a pally/warlock combo, kinda sounds like that's what's ganna happen.

The rune thing sounds kind of iffy. From what im reading you apply certain runes for to prepare before battle, which say if just going one on one you could technically prepare yourself against any class >_>

Why? Death Knights belong to no faction in particular. Teron Gorefiend in the Black Temple is a Death Knight yet he's allied with Illidan, the Lich King's enemy. They are in no way bound to the Lich King's allegiance.

No Diablo 3 makes me sad. :(

If they're not going to make a Diablo 3, then I don't get why not, Diablo 1 and 2 were really successful/popular (both sold a total of over 17 million).

Yeah I was really hoping for Diablo 3 but I guess it wont happen yet again. It pisses me off when the guy asks the crowd to cheer for each game warcraft, starcraft, WoW, and he doesnt even mention Diablo at all lol.

I wasn't trying to say they should be bound to the Scourge necessarily, but they are essentially antithetical to not only the Alliance, but also the new Horde that has tried very hard to distance itself from its history of dark arts and necromancy. Yeah, we do have warlocks (which I found kind of iffy as well), but they're on the fringe and kind of cloistered off within their respective racial factions. Death Knights are some serious, full-blown, dark shit harking back to the days when the Shadow Council was still manipulating orcs and slaughtering Alliance towns. The most recent Death Knight - Arthas - killed countless civilians. Why would people want to be associated with this? Why would they accept these kinds of dark taints?

Yeah, the argument can be made that they don't have to turn evil and can use their powers for good. But I find that very ****ing lame, seeing as how Death Knights epitomized corruption. When you turned into one, you were inherently evil.

So did they announce any new game? Or was it just the expansion which we all knew about anyways.

Yeah, I was really hoping for a third one too. I'm sure there are some problems to be worked out with making a third Diablo, such as distribution and fees. Diablo 2 was free but the online service was pretty balls because of it. Also it's no surprise that they got kind of ****ed when a good portion of the Diablo team left to make / work on Hellgate London. I'm sure we'll see another, but who knows when.

I definitely know what you mean, but I also think there isn't much else can be done about Arthas. The Blood Elf race that we were introduced to brought the horde some Paladins, but Arthas eats them for breakfast. =\ Horde and AC are sort of in a bind now.

So did they announce any new game? Or was it just the expansion which we all knew about anyways.

Just the Warcraft Expansion and Starcraft 2.

Well, there's death knights and there's death knights. The Arthas-type DK (which you'll be in WotLK) is a paladin who has forsaken the light and sided with the Lich King, the one you mean are the DK who are warlocks inside the bodies of dead knights. So the first is a little less evil and wouldn't say more so than the warlock class.

And it's not like the Alliance/Horde is a boy scout club where you'll be kicked out of when you break the rules. It's mostly just a side you're on, and you will face distrust from others:

You will not be Kill on Sight from your own faction, so you will still be able to browse the AH, there will be flavor differences with NPCs however, expressing their distrust of Death Knights

http://www.mmo-champion.com/index.php?topic=630.0

I think it was the same for warlocks in a lesser degree (can remember some snide NPC comments, I think).

Then there's a story curve of the expansion which also shows itself in the trailer that the Lich King is trying to corrupt the heroes, the DK fits into that. I'm guessing DKs are corrupted paladins of the Horde/Alliance and the "DK quest" is a questline to redeem a DK after which you'll be able to make one yourself.

Also, from that link:
* Engineering is gonna get some love ... And more precisely, engineers will be able to craft a flying machine.

FUCK YEAH. We better be able to build a plane as flying mount. Although 5000g in materials is gonna suck.

Fair enough. I still find it lame though. I just wish Death Knights were something that could have remained categorically evil. Running around Org and seeing DKs swamped on top of the bank roof is just going to be an odd sight.
