I need to get rid of it. It sucks SO much. I've been told to get either Trillian (by three friends), GAIM (by one friend and people on this forum), or DeadAIM (by a friend). Any suggestions?

I have Trillian, Xfire and GAIM. The only time im on GAIM is when i sign into gmail. :\

Have you ever tried 5.2 with deadaim? Least bloated AIM app imaginable.
It takes a far less bloated version of aim and de-bloats it even farther with dead aim.

Nope, but I need to use multiple clients for work, and Trillian makes that easier than running 3 separate clients.
