[SARCASM]Yes, Gordon has magic teleporting power.[/SARCASM]
Do you have a single didgit IQ? HL started a few minutes after BS, put 2 and 2 together.

Did you ever play the original half life?
You are the security guard banging on the door trying to get in.
In Half Life, you'd been on the tram for a minute or two prior to seeing that.

Yes, but you had been riding for nearly ever. You see Gordon get on the train almost right as you pass by him..

Meh..I'm trying to say something but it doesn't sound right..eh w/e

the train came and he stept on to it and passed you....whats so weird about it?

Exactly. That's the OP's point but Riomhaire doesn't get it.

It's innacurate from HL1 that's all.

What are you talking about? You see Barney banging on the door moments after your tram starts moving in HL1, it's perfectly alright.

Got to agree here. Blue Shift is cack in some ways, but this is not one of them.

Quoted for shens.

Alright, I just started up Half Life and checked. Almost immediantly you see Barney pounding on the door begging to be let in..

If you look behind you, you see a platform as if the game started after you took a step inside the vehicle...

I knew it!

I think i know what hes trying to say so let me summarise.

You never see 2 trains on the track in the original halflife or in the 19 times ive played through the single player of that game ive missed it every time.

The train you use in bs passes gordon as he waits at the station for the next one (THIS IS WHY HES LATE WHEN HL STARTS!) you disembark from the train and it leaves.

If you look to your left you will see gordon wait for the train and then board it. <--- this is where the singleplayer picks up. NO 2 TRAINS are in sight until the gman incident later on in tram.

its a FLAWLESS transition for BS and HL and very well executed i might add

yea i went back at started HL, if you turn directly to your right you see that bridge where gordon gets on. and you see the BS gaurd banging on the door up ahead....:hmph:  guess i should think harder next time!!! sorry

....I don't get what your talking about. maybe i shouldn't have posted, OH WELLS its all in the past now. why did i type that. ah im just gona stop. (delete this someone.)

Still, there is one inconsistency... in HL1 you see Barney fully armored banging on the door, however in BS you only get the armor later on!

Maybe it wasn't "Barney" but a diffrent secruity guard?

It was barney, he was the only security guard in that situation that could have seen Gordon on the tram.

I was breaking continuity by looking round at Freeman coming towards me. Oh and this never happened in my version of the HL1 continuity either :p.

Edit: And perhaps Barney was actually in his pyjamas, which just happen to look like a full suit of security guard armour. What can I say, he loves his job.
Edit 2: Also, having Security Guard Pyjamas is really handy when you're as late for work as he is, because you can fool Science team personel into thinking that you're totally not late and are totally on top of things.

Compressed Summary of HL1 / BS Train event

1) BS starts, Barney on Train
2) Train lowered down in front of Freeman's Train
3) Barney passes Freeman waiting for Train
4) Barney's Train stops, he gets out.
5) In the distance, Gordon Freeman enters his train whilst Barney's empty train moves away
6) The Freeman Train pulls away, HL1 Starts.
7) Barney bangs on door, Freeman passes him and goes round the corner.

What's wrong with that?

Okay guys...

Gordon on the train in Blue Shift is just TOTAL BS, man...

I mean... I remember when I was playing through HL1, I was running back and forth and jumping up and down and stuff, so obviously, BS got it wrong by putting him there just standing....

(Sarcasm btw)

Not to mention that Blue Shift is BS.... Literally... B.S. (Blue Shift)

its kinda funny how everyone is noticing this now when its been out for years

he got on it,im new and at the beginning of blueshift if you looked to the right before you hit the platform youll see another train and gordon getting on it.

On a related topic, something that newer Half-Life players may not remember:

Originally, there was no G-Man on another train during the intro sequence. The trainride was slightly different, and no G-Man. The G-Man was added in a later patch / the version of HL currently on Steam. I don't remember the version where the G-Man part was added, though.

Actually BEFORE I even HAD THAT STEAMing PILE OF CRAP he WAS on the train in HL1
and the fact of the matter is B.S. is just a wrong, inaccurate pile of crap.

Actually I noticed this way back when I played BS for the second time (2 years ago) and I came to the conclusion that it was allright, there where some small inconsistency but I don't remember what. So I knew this thread was BS after reading the first post. :D

Uhh, guys, ever seen a movie? Any movie? There are internal consistency mistakes and continuity errors to be found in just about any movie, period. You may not notice that in the cinema, but there's a lot of them.

I can't see why Half-Life would be any different. BTW, it resembles a movie more than any other FPS game. So if Blue Shift has some inaccuracties, it's understandable. One inconsistency is that in HL you see Barney banging on the door in his armor, while in BS, you only get your armor later. Inaccurate? Sure. Minor? Pretty much. Explainable? Definitely. There was just one security guard model in HL, and Valve, of course, had no idea about BS when developing HL. Instead, BS was later actually developed very cleverly for crossovers with HL.

Sorry, you just can't have seen him the first time you played. I have a Christmas 1998 (actually released in November, issue 71) copy of PC Zone with a picture of the G-Man on the opposite train on page 91.

The idea that Valve would go to the lengths of adding the G-Man in on the train is a bit proposterous, especially in a time when everyone was on ISDN only if their daddy owned an oil-field :p I can vouch for having seen the G-Man at the beginning when I first played in September 1999, and It's pretty likely that I didn't even know what a patch was back then.

Interesting. I am not 100% certain the G-Man wasn't there - it's been a while since I played the old HL, but the one thing I remember for sure is that I only saw him during the trainride with later patches. Might be just me missing him, though.

I just liked running round the security station in Blueshift.

Oh and the abandoned lab.

You see Barney pretty much the moment the original Half-Life started.

And what was the point of bumping this?

hmm...okay.
lets assume for a second that there is some sort of in-consistency...whats the point of it? bring Valve to justice? yeesh
in the long run.. it doesn't really matter :p

dont ask people if they are dumb when u cant even spell

Don't try to be clever when you can't even use full stops, capitals, apostraphes or even the word 'you'.

hehe, way to go sulkdodds!
when HL starts, you could actually hear the sound of the tram starting to move, not moving, which means the game starts exactly when the door tram closes. personally, i wouldn't like seeing gordon doing something you didn't do in the actual game, meaning i didn't like seeing gordon standing in the station, but i guess that's just me... .
about barney not being armed in BS..., simple, the whole BS is Inaccurate, i didn't like it that much. Op4 was much more better in storyline.
