Boat Names Are Shit

Experimentation. I wanted to give the cute little penguin a test run and see what people thought about it. I am going to go back to the cow in time.
No doubt the penguin is cute to most people, but changing avatars is like swapping faces a.l.a FaceOff style imo. (The Nicolas Cage/Travolta movie).

Everyone has ruined this thread except me.

Sulkdudes is absolutely right. Boat names are always airy fairy nonsense.

Dark Thresher
Raving Abyss Rider
Vortex of Doom

Millenium Falcon

/restores thread respect.

I like the name, "Leviathan" for a ship or submarine.

The name "Interceptor" is also cool, as so is "Invincible".

Oh yeah, The coolest name to ever be used amongst the U.S. NAVY fleet is the "U.S.S. Enterprise".
In fact, it is said that's where the Star Trek creators got the name for the series.

I would name mine bread, so at least it would be sure to float.

Ten points to the first one who gets the Holy Grail reference

The coolest U.S. NAVY name I've heard for a ship so far is the "U.S.S Nimitz".

It's a god damn time traveling aircraft carrier what could be more awesome than that?

I retract that statement though. The U.S.S. Enterprise is the coolest name to ever grace the U.S. naval fleet. (see previous page)

^Awesome. TEN ****IN' POINTS!

Indeed! :D Star Trek amirite? Big carrier amirite?

Actually, the name was used more than once for both carrier and cruiser class ships. You can Google "US NAVY ships history" if your interested.

I used to have the link bookmarked but not anymore.

However I don't retract my statement Nimitz > Enterprise. **** Star Treck.

The Culture ships pretty much all have amazing names.

Some highlights:
  • Ultimate Ship The Second
Of Course I Still Love You
    What Are The Civilian Applications?
    It's Character Forming
    Ethics Gradient
    Only Slightly Bent
    It'll Be Over By Christmas
Hand Me The Gun And Ask Me Again
    I Blame The Parents
    Lapsed Pacifist
    Subtle Shift In Emphasis
And of course, the 'Gravitas' running gag (These ships obtained their names as a result of another civilisation criticizing Culture ship naming policy, claiming that such powerful ships ought to have names with a little more gravitas.):

  • Stood Far Back When The Gravitas Was Handed Out
    Gravitas, What Gravitas?
Gravitas... Gravitas... No, Don't Help Me, I'll Get It In A Moment...
    Gravitas Free Zone
    Low Gravitas Warning Signal
    Absolutely No You-Know-What
    Experiencing A Significant Gravitas Shortfall

SS Panda Bear

AHOY!

Another good name would be the USS Compensation

Get two, paint em pink and blue, call em Boaty-chan and Boat-kun and paint giant ^_^ faces on the front. You'll be the envy of every nautical weeaboo!

Which is to say noone.

Krynn72

and underneath it, in parentheses, it would say "This one is sure to float!"
