Bomb planting and defusing

Do you like his bomb/defuse scheme?

A nice idea BigWalnutZ  I'd like to see this at least modded into CS:S (like Warcraft etc) as it adds an additional level of gameplay. I like the VGUI option but I think that only CT's with kits can defuse if this was implmented. This would balance it out as the CT's would HAVE to buy a kit to be able to defuse, thierfor spending money which they would usualy save for their M4's. Perhaps you could have four options in the menu:

1) Defuse
2) Cut the red wire
3) Cut the blue wire
4) Leave the bomb alone

Defuse could be the traditional time sensitive defuse meathod (with added animation please!) for when you have enough time, the others for when you've got "NO TIME, NO TIME!".

What do you think?

i like walnutz idea of holding E then pressing mouse1 (or similar), that way if ur gonna defuse normally with only just enuf time left it wouldnt waste those extra few seconds bringing up the menu.

and yeah, DEF need a animation when defusing.

Yeah Jez I like that idea, nice and simple, and adds an edge of excitement and decision-making for when the bomb is about to blow, rather than just running away if the bleeps are too fast.

Plus it won't make the game unbalanced if only those with defuse kits can do it.

Maybe you could allow those without diffuse kits to be able to just pick the standard diffuse option, but it still seems a good idea.

Hopefully Cliffe will read and like ^^

cliffe better read it, i pm'ed him the link to this thread :farmer:

Or how about one of the three wires that you cut would actually speed up the countdown? It being completely random. Or maybe, in order to use the cut method, you must cut the wire that speeds it up and then you'll have a 50/50 chance.

I like it the way it was (I aint playing for some time)
When the Ts had waited enough after the bomb was planted, they usually ran away hoping to keep their weapons if they stayed alive.
Implementing a last-minute defusing option will have CTs running on the last second to defuse the bomb and eventually having more rounds won than they normally would.
furthermore, less chances than 50% for having a successful defusion would probably be a magnet for CT morons wanting to ruin the game - they will detonate the bomb almost every round.

I think it should have a completely interactive bomb difuse (in 2.0). when you press enter it will bring the bomb up to full screen and you'll have to go through a series of steps to defuse it, and if your fairly good it'l take about the same time as the normal CS defuse time.

for the normal defuse you would have to actually enter a code into the computer (you can see the numbers and crap quite well in the CS:S vid. There are like 10 codes in the game and you need to figure out which one it is by trying them out quickly.

for the defuse kit have there be a bunch of wires and you have to cut a few special ones first then find out which last one you need to cut (there would be a way to tell, but it would always be random)_ this would be quicker than normal verison
:borg:

sounds like a lot of fun lol, and yeah that would force upon people to buy a defuse kit.

not sure a fully interactive bomb would work for cs :/
just wouldnt fit the simplicity of the game, plus you would be screwed if ur trying to do all that and a T comes out from behind a box.
i rekon if the wires were random everytime, then it would prevent ppl from deliberatly detonating it cause they would have the same chance of difusing it. (depending on what the 3rd wire did)

I like it, but it would be too predictable if the terrorists clicked left or right mouse buttons to chose the wire; everyone would chose the right one to try and catch people out.

... unless, they KNEW people would figure that out, so they'd chose the left wire...

... but then, they'd figure that out too... soo... headache ensues.

How about having wire-specific animations so that dead players could spy on the chosen wire and let the rest of the team know. Cheating? nah.

if they're going to have a couple planting methods, there should be like 3 or 4. 2 would be too easy. But I'd still rather have fully interactive bomb defuses.

But there should be a way of working it out that goes beyond pure guess work. You'd still have the option to just pick one if there was no time left, but a simple puzzle (that would take longer than guessing but shorter than defuse kit) would draw you in more.

Oh and if you get it wrong, there should be a cat for you to pick up before running away. Just a thought.
