Nice teeth. And what the **** is with that article? Jack Thompson is spiraling deeper into obsession and delusion, and what he's proposing radically and shamelessly unconstitutional. And the guy who wrote the article can "understand and respect the fact that he truly believes violent gaming is the root of so many tragedies across the globe"? That's like saying "I understand and respect the fact that this homeless guy on the street corner truly believes that the mole people will rise from the underworld to feast on our tonsils" This is total insanity, let's not act like this is a real debate.
 
Thompson's letter to Obama makes mention of the recent massacre in Germany and speculation that the killer "trained on Mature-rated games" for the event.

Aren't such games already illegal in Germany? If this speculation is true, then it actually proves that banning these games will not stop bloodshed.

Err no they aren't. They just can't sell the uncut version to someone under 18. Funnily enough Jack was one of the people advocating a legally enforced 18+ rating. Although it simply wouldn't work anyway. Media that is MA15+ in Australia for instance is legally enforced but that does little to deter stupid parents.

I was under the impression that in Germany there was no rating above 15+ and it was illegal to sell an unrated game, making any game that would otherwise be rated as 18+ illegal to sell to anyone.

You know that the vast majority of people back then had long hair right? Haircuts werent quite as common as they are today.
 
Ender the Xenocide was a child and did not know the war was real; yet he chose to destroy a populated planet in his game. I am an adult and have known all along the game was real; but I did not know I was a player. Is my blame greater or less than the Xenocide's if another world is destroyed and another raman species obliterated? What is my path to simplicity now?

That guy looks creepy. It's really funny reading his letter, he keeps talking about how he is leading the movement against video games, and nbc had him on. twice, I think he is just inlove with himself and thinks of himself as a prophet. Whhaaat a douche

Forgive me if I am remembering incorrectly but did he not once try to get Mechwarrior banned? He has no real credibility and is always trying to stir up a shit storm against "teh eviel vidya gaems". No one really knows what his problem is , maybe he could not beat Bowser or something but whatever. I have said this before and I will say it again , in many cases video games relieve anger and stress. He needs to actually sit down and play the things he is calling evil first. If after that he still thinks they are evil , so be it because it still won't make a difference.
