Hey, your local technophobe here again with another dilemma. Just a quickee this time, I'm in the process of a full format/reinstall, just finished up with the backups and made some boot disks as instructed by this page - http://www.techadvice.com/win2000/b/boot-disk_w2k.htm

Problem is when I Shut Down and chuck in the first disk it doesn't have any effect when I boot up. The light doesn't flicker at all, and there's no sound so it's not even checking it before it gets into booting Windows. Anything I need to change to make it run a check for disks or something?

By the way I'm running Windows 2000 Pro. Thanks in advance :)

Go into your bios (press delete when your booting up) and make your floppy drive your 1st boot device, Save the changes and reboot and it should boot from the disk.

hey Bad^Hat i jsut realised where ur avater is from! its the horse from the one horse town in the simpsons!!

sorry i jsut had to say

You mean family guy! It's the episode when the Griffins move into the house that their aunt gave them when she died.

Oh yea, and tell us how the bios adjustment worked for you.

On some motherboards, you get a Boot menu, idependant from the BIOS.. A description of how your computer boots up would help :)

"Ugh, Quahog, that one-horse town?"

"Hey you shut up, no you shut up, no you shut up, well you're the only one talking, HEY EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP!! ~gasp~ What's that... the wind!!"

Just thought I'd post again to say everything went smoothly. The bootdisks ran without a hitch and I'm now running on a clean install of Win2kPro :)

Thanks for your continued help, although it was a minor problem, the reformat is a huge victory for myself and my family who were getting rather monotonous with the constant "OMG IT CRASHED AGAIN" "OMG NO MORE INTARWEB" "OMG WHERE'S DIABLO"

Until next time ;)

yeh family guy thats the one!
