So, I bought HL2yesterday. I had it reserved at EB... I wanted a real CD, somthing to hang on to. I didnt want to buy it from steam but now... if I want to download the majority of mods (You know, the ones that were FREE for download for HL1) I need to buy HL2 silver over steam? thats messed up, I dont want to buy the same game twice.
I dont want to be entirely negative... the single player was incredible and the graphics and physics are great. I just wish that I had known...

You dont have to buy the same game twice once you enter your cd key you get discount off the silver package!

um you dont need silver to download 3rd party mods.

Clear a few things up, you cannot upgrade to silver with a retail package.

If you buy Half Life which will be outstandingly cheap, you can then have all the mods except DOD Source, Half Life Source and Counterstrike Condition Zero which you have to buy seperately.
