Hi all sorry to ask this but i'm gonna buy this game but i wanna know if it has bots implemented into it before i buy it

cheers

Uhh, just in case the above poster wasn't too clear. Counter Strike Source has bots, but Half-Life 2 Deathmatch does not.

lol

Half-Life 2 is a singleplayer game. It doesn't require bots.

I guess he means hl2 multiplayer, so hl2dm. No, hl2dm does not have bots (yet?).

heh, yeah sorry. But if he knew what bots were, he should know what dm is.

HL2DM bots would be interesting to implement- theoretically, gravity gun-using AI wouldn't be impossible, but probably prone to problems... how intelligently, for example, could they bypass a player-made blockade of debris?

TBH I'd just like very good shooting bots. I used to practice against nightmare bots on q3 for like an hour or two, go online and it seems so much easier.

He's _OBVIOUSLY_ talking about aimbots, for HL2, I mean Geeze.
There are no aimbots out for half-life 2 yet. VALVe can't implement the correct head-aiming-thing that they need to make before it works. They've got a few for CSS though.
That's why I like VALVe, they release hacks for their own games so quickly...

Don't take me seriously :E

Bot encounters blockage -> blockage consists of physics objects -> physcannon primary fire until passable.

Since valve is working with Turtle Rock Studios so closley why not have them take a shot for it.
I mean...what is Turtle Rock Studios next plan? They converted the Cs:S bots over...
I'm sure valve has them workin on somtin..

To be Honest your statement was completely wrong :p

HL2....the game is FULL of bots!! LOL!! What else do you think your up against?? Oh I KNOW!!! PIXELS!!! HAHA!!

<sigh>

Traditionally, bots are AI entities designed to mimic human opponents in a multiplayer game. Singleplayer NPCs are not described (or defined) as "bots". Unless you're really stupid, of course.

Powned

:afro: <----- Pi Mu Rho.

Anyway, I think the AI of the people in Anti-citizen one could be made more free like, slightly... So I think bots would work better, but as long as they follow a certain path for story-driven parts.

It seems like everyone has an AimBot for CSS. And they think that no one notices them aiming at people through walls. They need to get some better anti-cheat systems.

VAC 2 will be coming soon don't worry.

Back on topic, the bots are amazing :)

Sure, you could have bots discharge gravitational magnetism (or whatever) into objects directly before them, but it still might lead to problems. Would one become obsessed with one fragment of unmoving debris to the point that it ignores the table that is preventing the cabinet from moving the hell out of the way? No AI is perfect but it'd take a while to get a convincing DM bot up and running...
