How does one go about cleaning the inside of a flask/bottle?

Wash it out with hot water, gets most of the grime off, put a rag/paper towel on the eraser end of a pencil (secure paper towel with elastic), and scrub inside..

i'd try using a hose, or something with a lot of water pressure, kind of pressurewash the inside

especially if you plan to drink from it later

Would hot water rinse out, say, alchohol...

...Or juice?

Isnt it just as simple as washing anything else? I'm sure soapy hot water... then put the cap back on and shake it up then rince and repeat till the watter runs clear?

Put it in a pot and boil the entire thing. Works like a charm. (If it isn't plastic)

Pour some thermite in it. Then throw a lit match on the thermite.

Dude, what the hell were you doing with this bottle? Use a pencil eraser, rinse out the little rubber shavings afterwards.

So what are you going to fill it with afterwards?

Ether?

Well, he was asking about it in another topic. My assumption was that he acquired some.

Hmm... I reckon I gotta get me some in the near future.

I think he'd be taking the pick up line "does this smell like either to you?" a little too far...

*Holds up bottle "Does this smell like chloroform to you?"

EDIT: Damn burnzie, great minds think alike.

Well, Ligroin/Petroleum Ether isn't a TRUE Ether :P

And I just want to make sure that there's no left over juice/whisky/soda, cause Hawaii = warm, moist, and surrounded by salt water.

Moisture+ heat + odd fluid + dark metal flask = mold/odd fungus that gets in your whisky.

Salt Water + moisture = oxidation. Now i've got rust in my soda.

TBH though, it's a question that's been bugging me for ages. When I was younger, I did the dishes for my mom allot more often, and I would allways skip over the bottles and thermos', cause I couldn't fit my hand into them.

Low and behold, the next day they'd be sitting in the dry dish bin, spiffy and shined.

If I were cleaning out a bottle for juice and stuff, I'd just put in some soap and hot water and shake it up a lot and rinse like someone else already said here.

If I were in a chem lab and I had crap on my flask... acetone works nicely. UNLESS you had bromine in your flask. Because then you'd just end up with tear gas.

I've been wondering this for some time, what if I was to put alchohol in a plastic bottle?

Would it dissolve the plastic like Gasoline?

This also mystifies me.......perhaps over a long period of time?

I think for short periods of time it should be ok.

I've heard of kids that tried to sneak alcohol into school in plastic water bottles. ...Is this what you're trying to do?? If so, it's been tried before and apparently failed miserably. Also, cheating on tests by writing notes on the inside of that paper around your water bottle, gluing it back on, and pretending to drink water during your test, is really stupid. Ugh, my school was weird.

Lol, no.

Just that, a few weeks back, my friends were gonna go to the movies and hang out at the local marina, and I figured i'd bring a few ounces of whisky allong with me, but I didn't have anything to carry it in.

So I failed the idea, cause I figured i'd get all sorts of plastic mollecules in my whisky.

But, over a long period of time, will it melt through plastic?

Ahem

^ That's more like what I wanted to post earlier...I just couldn't think of the right name to put into google images :P

Bottle brush! I loved cleaning bottles with the bottle brush. I freaking looked forward to it...

I don't know where it is now though :(

And this:

Looks like a piece of shit that would fall apart on the first bottle you tried to clean.

Get a hipflask. Much cooler too.

I prefer the regular, kinda curved ones, the curve fits along nicely your leg when it's in your pocket.

Like Ennui said try a hose with some pressure.

Not really....you are either an underage drinker or a 60 year old golfer if you carry a hipflask around with you. Both so uncool I just shat myself.

What else do you use to carry your alchie with you?

whatever the rum comes in. lol.
