Boiling (or just very hot if it's made of something that can't take that heat) water should do the trick! It's what I used to sterilize my water bottle (used to do a good bit of cycling) with whenever I got a cold sore.

Meh I never clean anything other than pouring water over it since im a lazy bastard. If in doubt, fill it with Hot hot water, leave it for 10 minutes. Then pour it out. Then keep filling it and emptying it for about 4 or 5 times with washing up liquid mixed in it. Fin
