Braid (xbox live arcade)

I tried the demo and enjoyed it quite a bit. Some stuff is really difficult to solve though.

purchased it quite recently
1200 points is a little steep for it imo but it's definitely worth checking out
it's got an interesting story and gameplay that really makes you think. plus it looks fantastic and the music matches it perfectly

The price is a huge point of contention, but basically all it comes down to is this: if you like quirky, brain-bending puzzle games with brilliant art and music, it's worth it. If you're the kind of person who's more concerned about how much "value for money" you get out of a game, you'll probably think it's overpriced. It's a short game, and a little pretentious, but every moment is pure puzzling bliss (and frustration).

Why is the price a huge point of contention? It's like a difference of $5 or ?3. You could probably get that picking up change at the train station.

Aye! Haven't played this game yet, but I hear everyone talking about it. Hope it comes to Steam.

The "standard" price for a full game on Xbox Live used to be 800 points and the (sort of) shift to 1200 has a few people up in arms, but honestly the quality has taken such a leap since then that I don't see the issue. Either way it's a bargain, and yet a lot of people (other places mostly, not here) seem to like to bitch that because they're not getting an epic 10 hour journey or something they're being ripped off. Personally I think length is only a single factor that should be considered in terms of value for money, and in this case the production values alone make it worth the price of admission, but at the end of the day it's going to come down to whether it's your kind of game or not. I guess a bunch of people bought it believing it to be something it wasn't, got a bit sour over it and felt like having a bitch. I've bought at least a few arcade games I didn't end up liking or playing very much (Bionic Commando and Ikaruga for two, both highly acclaimed), but they're such a steal that it doesn't even bother me.

Anyway, I guess it's neither here nor there since I'm not actually referring to anything that's gone on here. All I'll say is try the demo, and if you feel like you're up for more of that but growing progressively more and more insane, do yourself a service and grab it. If not, don't fool yourself into thinking you'll "get it" eventually by buying it. Seems to be a trap a lot of people fall into...

I'm still waiting on the PC version :|

Oh and I didn't like bionic commando rearmed either
