Brave Neighbor Kills 2 Robbers - 911 Call

From the details as I understand them, I have no issue with calling him a murderer. I also have no problem revising/changing that opinion if more details are made available or if there's something I've missed.

Blowing any way the wind breezes? PICK A STANCE AND KEEP IT, ENNUI.

Or should I say JOHNY KERRY

I love how easy going the cop on the other end is

"Naaah...I dont think you should..you might get hurt."

You'd think when someone tells you they have a shotgun and there going to go outside and shoot two robbers, you'd try your best to keep em on the line.

They're trained to talk in that tone to calm people down and such.

Also this is appalling. :|

Every time I see this thread title in the lounge, I start singing the Brave Sir Robin song from Monty Python.

Explain to me what is worthless about human life. I'm talking about respect for other living beings, for the fact that they exist in the same manner and wonder as you do.
Human life is neither worthless nor sacred.

why not just everybody kill themselves, and we save this planet some suffering.

I like that idea.
DO IT.

How do we know they weren't armed? I really would like some additional information. Anyway, what I mean by missing is not missing the target, but the area he aimed for. I think you got some of what I said wrong - I'm only talking about the assholes here who call someone a murderer even though they don't know the details. It's basically a witch-hunt - This person said that this person did that. We don't really know what happened beside from what we heard in the call.

The fact is the guy intentionally put himself into a situation where he could claim to have some justification for killing them if any of those things are true (concealed weapons, whatever).
He blatently just wanted to kill them for robbing that house. Even if they had weapons he didn't know when he went outside, clearly with the intention of shooting them.
Murder or a high-degree manslaughter at least.

Yeah, he did go outside, but how far did he make it? He said they came in his front yard, so he couldn't have gotten very far. He did indeed put himself in this situation, but if they came anywhere near his house... Yeah.
Noticed something here - He did give them a warning before he shot. That's gotta count for something, perhaps negate the notion that he went out there with the intention of killing them.

Once again, I'm not gonna take a stance on this because we don't really know what happened.

1. This is texas. You do not rob shit in texas or you will get shot.

2. This is texas. This man will most likely get away with this.

3. This is texas. You can be killed for being a potential cow thief. Not even already in the process of stealing one, if they suspect that you are stealing a cow they are within there rights to blow your head off.

4. Why the **** are you robbing shit in texas D:

1. No.

2. Probably not.

3. That's bullshit and stop stereotyping my state.

4. Don't mess with Texas ffs.

From what I heard, it sounded like he went outside his house, yelled some thing to provoke them them from his yard, then they *may* have started towards him. I envisioned it like the early south park episodes with the hunter guys, where they shout "Oh my god, Its coming right at us!" so that they could shoot and call it self defense to avoid trouble.

Hah! You could move state and then he wouldn't be stereotyping your state :p

What criminals would steal a bunch of photographs of a dead child? I'll bet you that all the police found in their "bag of loot" was some jewelry, cash, and maybe an ipod or something.

Most people would put such photographs in an expensive frame.

The point is that they weren't necessarily doing anything other than stealing, which is wrong, but not so wrong that they deserve to die. I would have a slightly different opinion if it was the homeowner who shot them, but in this case it's completely wrong.

It might be wrong, but it doesn't mean I have to sympathise. Burglars are scum and now there are two less of them to worry about.

You listened to the phonecall, the guy was out to kill them. He didn't give them time to respond, he just walked outside, said "Hey!" and then proceeded to murder both of them. Human life is intrinsically valuable, and the right or justification to take it was not present in this case.

You weren't there, so unless you have a crystal ball you're speculating.

Well, what you do hear is "Move, you're dead!" followed by gunshots, so at the very least, we could assume they had a chance to just stop... But yeah, I couldn't help envision that episode, either!

if they werent being dumbasses and stealing they would still be alive today.
if more people shot criminals.. i bet there would be less crimes.

I've lived here in Texas for 6 years. This state really sucks :( But yes, that stuff he said is stereotypical and not true.

Yes Texas indeed does suck. Im surrounded by fundamentalists around here, and racism is thick..but whoever mentioned something about stealing cows is full of shit. First off, why would anyone steal a cow? Im not saying it doesnt happen but seriously its not like an everyday situation people find themselves in around these parts .

Shooting criminals IS a crime if it isn't clearly self-defense...
