no all the demos have been removed. i think you can buy it for $1500 something like that. It's really not neccesary though for the purpose of modeling for half life2. Look at some rendering tutorials to learn tricks to using the scanline rendering in max. SideX posted a quick explanation of how to created good rendering setups.
Aww your welcome Hiro . I did a few quick renders with very conservative settings w/ E-Light(less than 200 lights). Carefull with the dialog because it's easy to create 2000 or so lights, coupled with large shadow maps it'll choke you machine.
[EDIT] Sorry I didn't have time to crop those sons-o-beaches but any way... The gun material is the raytrace>metal shader.
Nos, XSI has some built in with final gathering, but I've been finding it a real b*tch to get things to look nice, the shadows seem to always end up very sharp. heres one of my better renders. and god the geometry is awful though feel free to comment on it.
