I'm making this thread because there's no BIA thread with a poll. Anyway my lil bro is WW2 nut, and interested in the game but i dont really want him spending his hard-earned money without the game being any good. Although i don't like it that the wants yet another WW2 game but i'd rather have him spending his money on a WW2 game that wont last long, then a WW2 MMO like WW2Online (which he plays :S). Anyway, so is this game any good? He'll probably been into the tactical side and story, but i'm just checking to make sure.

I am eager to try it out also, I heard that alot of emotion was pumped into the game.

What platform will you be getting it on ?

Well, since he's considering renting it, I'd guess XBOX.

Are there rental places that carry PC games? I've never seen one.

I've seen lots of places that rent PC games. I guess as long as its not a place that mainly rents movies like Blockbuster or something.

this game is really great. i just picked it up the other day and i have to say im thoroughly impressed. the aiming may take a little getting used to but its very enjoyable when you do. They really made the game have a truly cinematic feel that ive come to expect out of recent games.

My view of games in the future is basically a sort of interactive movie. I think Brothers in Arms does a great job of portraying this design style and its definately worth a buy.

Then again, i am a nut for most of what UBISOFT puts out.

Rent it - it's a fairly short game with some replayability value, and the MP is fairly drab.

Buy It,

awsome game, awsome graphics on high end GFX, and

excellent story

2moro i m getting SPLINTERCELL 3 wwwwwweeeeeeeeee :naughty:

any other people played it? i wanna hear some reviews
According to many, the reviews overhype the game. I am still awaiting the demo. I want Chaos Theory more than this, though.

The US PCgamer gave the PC Brothers in Arms a 91%, however I wont share my opinions

i thought the game was good for the Xbox, but my xbox live account got cancelled :( :(((((((((((((((((((((((

rent, its very short & repetitive,mp is buggy and pretty crap

its repetitive but isnt every game?? look at hl2 ffs...

anyway yeah its still a good game. first game ever where supressing fire WORKS and the AI is clever enought to keep their heads down..not knowing youre flanking them through the bushes until a nade lands at their feet and their legs start flying through th air....

yeah get it its fun!

and the mg positions are actually hard to take head on for once....

yeah but this is just a case of rinse and repeat the whole way through,hl2 wasnt repetitive and if it was it was damn fun and not patronisingly so,supress and flank, repeat and again and again...i mean you could leave the game running while your squad supress the enemy, cut the grass, have your dinner, put of out the trash and the enemy would still be sitting behind their hedgerow/bush etc,no "dynamic ai" whatsoever as the devs promised

Don't even bother renting it. It's short and super repetitive. All you do is supress the Germans until the little red bubble on top of their position turns grey. Once it turns grey, you flank them and it's over. Then you do that about 1,000 more times. Woo! Oh and you can't hit anything unless you are at point blank range. The blast radius on the grenade is like 2 inches and the shrapnel seems to not penetrate anything...even sandbag machinegun positions. It's very linear and there are invisible boundaries. You always have to look for an opening in a gate because apparently you aren't able to jump over a 2 foot tall brick wall. There's just nothing clever at all. You'll play it once and then it will just sit in its case. The multiplayer sucks too.

Some poeple like it and I can't figure out why. Sorry for the negativity and stuff but it's just that bad in my opinion. My brother is like your brother and he bought it with his own money. He hasn't played it since he finished it. :|

Exactly. At least with HL2 there was something new around every corner. There was something cool happening at every fight. Like the smoke stack breaking, resistance fighters pulling down the monitor with Breen on it, etc. The fighting was kept interesting in HL2. As jimbo says, BiA is Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

I don't have any trouble hitting them from far away. If they are behind cover though, it is tough.. but then again that's the way it should be. And in what reality does shrapnel penetrate sandbags? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose?

It won't penetrate them if the grenade is far away, but if the grenade lands right in front of a stack of sandbags and you are behind it, I'd imagine you're in trouble. I don't know for sure though, it just seems like the shrapnel would blow through it at close range. Anyway, I just plain don't like the game. :)

BiA just failed.

The AI did not a lot except hide and shoot (Running away? whats that all about anyway?)

Don't get me wrong it started off great, problem is it suffered from DOOMitis. The game had a middle period of sheer boredom. That is until you got to Purple Heart Lane. Then it started to pick up (The best level being Tom And Jerry where you defend the church.)

Also worth noting is the fact that the US weapons really really suck (Although the sniper rifle was good).

I found myself taking German weaponary (Usually the Kar 98 and the MP40) purely because they were more accurate and could actully hit something. Oh that and trial and error gameplay sucks.
