Hi, I was going to bspZip my map but i cant figure out how.. if there is someone out there that whant to help me out doing this please PM me

And now the Q: I noticed you can extreact bspZipped .bsp's .. is there any sort of protection so you CAN'T do this? (i whant the stuff to stay with me noone else should be able to open and change)

Thanks! :cheese:

99% of the players don't know how to extract it anyway.

I also made a GUI (in my sig) but it seems nobody besides me has managed to make it work :( If you add one file at a time it works!

I think I tried yours without success too.

I don't actually remember if I had any success at all.

i think i got it to work now thanks .. but still im very disepointed that you cannot password protect or protect it from getting extracted at all :/

Perhaps in an update Valve will add that function.

Because then the engine would have to decrypt it too so it can access the files zipped up in the bsp...probably causing massive slowdown.

Think of it this way...If you can zip files up inside a bsp for the engine to access them then people are going to figure out how the engine accesses them and extract them.

its possible to protect a map from de-compiling so why not this i thught.. but uh oh well ok

How is it possible to prevent decompiling?

It isn't. If your map is complex, though, a lot of stuff will have to be rebuilt and edited by whoever wants to steal your map. It will never be undecompilable as the process is reversable.
