What is this? I heard its going to be released sometime soon?

Don't worry about it. It has more or less fizzled out. The only company still supporting it is Intel.

BTX is an attempt to change industry standards for PC cases inorder to make-up for design mistakes or direction which this company (it should be quite obvious who) continues to persue.

Basicly it puts the CPU upfront which gets the cool air first and flips the board upside down and mounts the board on the left side of the case. This allows for a huge heatsink to be fited to the CPU while using the front case fan to blow air across the fins.
The actual design of BTX has a few issues and many manufactures are against the change. One of those issues is that it is very hard to make strait traces from an onboard memory controller (AMD64) to the memory slots with the BTX design. Plus BTX is mostly incompatible with ATX, it's a fresh start.
BTX overview

What some companies have done is made their own versions that get the benefits of BTX but without changing the ATX standard. One example is Lian Li's PC-V1000.
