Q6600 with stock fan

Are there any improvement I can make to make it cheaper without losing cpu/gpu power? Or improving it?

Also, is the chipset on the motherboard going to effect my performance with a ATI video card since it's for an Intel processor?

Didn't you build one a few months ago? Or is my time tracking skillz haywire as usual.

Yep you can do better with this. It's faster and cheaper. Q8300

You can also get this case, which will give you a $20 discount on your PSU. Antec 300.

This will save you $30. With that you could purchase an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro cpu cooler.
Normally it's $37, but newegg currently offers an open box version for just $13!

Rest is looking really good. And no, the 4850 will run perfectly on that mainboard.

i wouldnt trust the intel stock fan. instead try find a good value one (under $30) that has good reviews:

EDIT: damn you brick, this is the second time you got here before me. the artic cooling cooler has not got as good reviews as some of the cheaper akasas

But it can be had for $13. I seriously doubt there's a better deal than that.

lets see if uriel wants to spend more on a decent cooler.
If he does so he can overclock it , and it will therefore last longer (speed wise) before he has to upgrade again

Maybe, I doubt a Freezer 7 pro would limit an average overclocker. And if he doesn't want to invest in overclocking, it would still be a great buy for $13.

I highly recommend anyone in the states to use Newegg. I've always ordered from Tigerdirect previously but Newegg seems to process their orders and ship out so much quicker. I'll give my absolute stamp of approval when my hardware arrives today, and everything is in working order.

i bought a dual core 3.02ghz amd processor and it was so worth it.

Anyone know how to check to see if my Vista has been authenticated?

Open control panel, click systems and maintenance, system.

It should show you your Windows edition, PC specs and at the bottom it should give you Windows Product ID, above it says 'windows is activated', when it's not registered it says otherwise.

Why in the world do you want a glossy monitor?

Makes the picture look nicer in my opinion. Maybe i'm just crazy.

The monitor is gianormous though.

for what it's worth, i have an e8400 oc'ed to 4.0ghz using the freezer 7 pro. definite vouch if you were still thinking about that

i'm reluctant to do any overclocking yet. Next thing on my list is more ram.
