here's an email I got from Jason Mitchell. Not really saying much.

Regarding texture resolution, we're always trying to squeeze as much use out of texture memory as possible.

IGN are speculating on an Alyx expansion. Now there's a blast from the past

But really, that old rumour of 'Episode Four' could accommodate it. Perhaps Gordon gets sent to the Arctic at the end of Episode Two (let's face it, we know it's going to happen) whilst Alyx or whoever gets sent to the ruins of City 17 in 'Episode Four', or rather, as a parallel story in the 'Half-life 2 Episode Three' bundle.

Because Mecha Breen rises from the citadel ruins and roars. Alyx squashes him in a gigantic skybox physics puzzle and quips "You're terminated, ****er."
