Bunker Buster Demonstration

Nice weapon, i'm wondering what process it uses to penetrate that far, it's not decending that fast (it is slowed down).........must just be very low disturbance projectile.

Bunker busters are small nukes iirc. Nukes = bad.

As far as I know, they work on the same principle as tank-busting "shaped charges," which essentially melt a pathway to their target's core through the use of extremely high heat and constant propulsion.
 
Yeah, like the German's Panzershreuk (SP?) which "injected" heat into the tank. Not exactly the same principle, but similar.
 
Yes well, this will help wars come to a halt, quicker.
 
Lesser of the two evils. It's what we got right now, and until someone invents an interactive porno holodeck, it's gonna be like that for a while.

It's probably going extremely fast. That video footage was slowed down quite a bit so you can see it happen I think

Faster wars but I don't think anymore casulties are a direct result. It used to be common for everyone to comit genocide and enslave your enemies. Now the only reason there are so many casulties is because there are simply more people.

The video showed the conventional bunker buster, which uses a delayed fuse which senses how deep the bomb has gone. The bomb would hit the ground above a bunker or hit the roof of a fortified building, and using a harderned nose, plough straight through as much of the roof/ground above the bunker as possible and detonate under the ground/inside the bunker, rather than just blowing up as soon as it hits something.

On the left is the nuclear bunker buster that Bush wanted to implement and was thrown out of congress, on the right is the standard conventional version that is used today but America, UK, and other airforces.
 
You can see the missile having sort of "wings" and when it comes out of the bridge in has lost its wings, so I guess the wings help penetrate the bunker
 
Faster wars? The only reason the wars seemingly take less time is because we aren't walking around for months on end on the off chance we might run into the enemy.

There's a distinct difference. I don't believe the one you showed was a bunker buster, for one... and is supposed to have a larger, above ground explosion. Sure, it can create a crater, but likely unable to do much penetration.

The bunker buster one, is quite chilling in the fact that as it penetrates, there's literally nothing to show except the entry point that everything beneath the penetration point is just completely obliterated. Chilling in its 'precision', not necessarily its sheer explosive power.

Yeah... But it's stupid. Did we really have to go this far? Nukes and bunker busters? We just find ways of killing more and more people faster... Meh i dunno.

One undeniable thing it does though, is sparks revolutions in technology for the civilian markets as well. Without warfare in history, we'd be far less technologically advanced as we are today.

Granted, hundreds of millions of people had to die to achieve it, though.
 
That's true Raziaar. But that still doesn't alter the fact that these weapons scare me sh*tless.
