He's a terrible speaker, but make no mistake, he is not dumb.

Washington - "That's Washington. That's the place where you find people getting ready to jump out of the foxholes before the first shot is fired."

Fools - "You can fool some of the people all of the time and those are the ones you want to concentrate on."

Not really Bushisms in that not only do they make sense, but they're true, especially the second one.

"When I take action I'm not going to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt. "

Is not really a 'Bushism' either. It's an allusion to Clinton's actions against Al Qaeda, which included firing cruise missiles into Afghanistan in the 90's without really accomplishing anything or killing any high priority targets.

Here is another gem of a debate subject. Oh wait...

Yeah these are funny but old. If you base a president solely off the way he speaks then I hope your not registered to vote. Almost as bad as the girl I knew that voted based on who had better looking hair.

In American politics, the differences don't seem to get much deeper than that. In all honesty, my blessing (im too young to vote (luckily for you)), goes to whoevee seems like he'd be the most interesting/entertaining. Thus, the results of the past elections pleased me.

Really? I'd take that bet if I had the incentive to do some research and find out for sure.

omg
this one is the best :p :
"When I take action I'm not going to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt. "

Duh. He is smart and cost-effective.

bush had a 2.35 GPA at Yale (C average) ...hardly brilliant. In comparison a graduate of medical college averages 3.2 - 3.6. Not that the level of education is a true measure of how smart someone is ..in comparison tricky Dicky Cheney dropped out of college

but Bush really isnt all that bright:

my fave Bush Quote:

"Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country." —Poplar Bluff, Mo., Sept. 6, 2004

You realize that he had no choice. Inaction wasn't an option and action that would be too ridiculous or damaging wasn't either. This was his only option.

These quotes are funny, but Stern is right: the one about OB-GYNs practicing their love for women is the best of all. My friend told me that the other week and I nearly wet my pants!

He's not dumb (even if he seems so) . He may not be an honest politician, but you don't become the most powerful man in the world by looking through binoclulars with the caps on them.

well then maybe he's not the most powerful man in the world...

I have a 0.0 grade point average. Never attended a day of high school or beyond in my life. Schooling is not a measurement of intelligence or brilliance.

tell me that in 10 years

and I pointed that out when I mentioned Cheney ...but you're missing the point ...bush is stupid despite having gone to yale

The only point I was trying to get across, is that grades are not an indicator for intelligence. I consider myself a very bright, intelligent individual, even though I didn't have much schooling. I didn't have much schooling due to personal reasons... got teased so bad I just dropped out last year of middleschool and never went back.

but he can't even speak right. (see the last three quotes i posted.)

should have gone somewhere else

oh and education IS a good measure of intelligence ..now dont be confusing receiving an education with grades and testing. The measure of education is NOT whether someone can successfully pass an exam

and no matter how bright or articulate you may be there's always room for improvement ...that goes for everyone (including myself)

Well, definitely. This is why I have plans to go back to school some day when I can afford it.

how will you be able to afford to if you're at school?

I dunno. I can't even afford to go to the doctor to check out this sickness I have right now, let alone school at the moment. I'm going to go to the doctor anyways though, irregardless. It's starting to get real bad, i'm like really short of breath and wheezing/coughing constantly.

do you smoke?

Nope. But maybe we shouldn't continue to talk about this, since its off topic. I have another thread for it in off topic called, "Damn Sickness."

sounds like asthma ..dont you have insurance? surely your parents do

thank god for free healthcare

I don't have asthma.

I just came off a bad influenza infection, and all the symptons match that of the beginning stages of pneumonia.

My dad has some insurance I think. Not exactly living together though.

yes but you're young enough to be a dependant

my son had pneumonia ..had to be rushed to the hospital a few weeks ago because he was coughing and couldnt breathe ..go to a doctor before it gets worse ...less than a hundred dollars on anti-biotics doesnt compare to a few thousand for a hospital stay. Not to mention that pneumonia can cause other complications that can lead to death. Not trying to alarm you but go to a doctor already

hehe, sorry man just got to do this :p
The worst moment for the atheist is when he is really thankful and has nobody to thank.
Dante Gabriel Rossetti

j/k man, this just reminded me of that quote thats all :)

meh I say thank god about as much as I say "holy shit" ..notice "god" is never captilized :) but yes I'd say "thank the empty black void of nothingness" but that doesnt sound that good

would you be surprised if I told you that I went to catholic school right up to unversity?

Actually no, because im sensing that wasnt such a good experience -> hence your "dislike" of Christians as a whole. :)

heh no that's not it ..I really dont dislike christians ..well maybe the fundamentalist kind but no I dont hate christians ...oh sure I may hate some of the things they do, but I dont hate christians ..Pat Robertson yes, pope palpatine, no

and it wasnt a bad experience ..in fact I became more sure of the fact that a personal god doesnt exist. Heh my theology teacher couldnt wait to get rid of me :)

hehe, im sure he was glad when you left after you said that :p
Well in contrary to what you might think im more of an "Agnostic" Christian than religious (which is what basically 9/10 people here are).
Im Katholic and I like the tradition, but i believe about 99% of it is fantasy-> imo the smoke after the "small fire".

But o well, i hardly think about it.
The only times when i pray/go to church is when relatives die. The Church helps me, and gives me hope i will see that person again.
I also dislike and hate fundementalists from all religions, as they oppress their beliefs on others.
I think and hope future Christianity will be more "agnostic", and pure tradition and free for all. We'll see.

I dont see how I'm any different ...except maybe 1 percentage point:

"but i believe about 99% of it is fantasy"

:E

my theology teacher didnt like arguing with me cuz I stumped him when asking about fossilized plant life ...the only answer he could muster was "how do you know god didnt make to look 30 million years old" ..to the guffaws of the rest of the students in class

omg...
But thank god that will be history soon :p Those people are dying out.

Ps, my experience with fanatics was when i lived in Africa for about 3,5 years and was forced to go to the "New Jesus Christ" school, which basically forced me to sing gospels all day long, walk in a suit, we werent allowed to "like" Santa Claus, because "Santa = Satan", and Christmas was about Jesus Christ.
We all had the same army hair-do's, and the school-teachers were all British fundementalists who smacked kids around with boots strapped to sticks!
My dad went all out against that, but there wasnt much choice. He even smacked a teacher once after he had smacked me for tying my shoe-laces during a school soccer match!
This was like living during a Hitler or Stalin regime with kids in 1 big line like robots singing "O Lord praise us" and memorizing 300 gospel songs!

Then we moved back to Holland, and i then saw how rediculous all of that was, and im glad thats the past, and im living in this age.
I hope Christianity will evolve and those kinds of schools etc disappear.
Judging that school with the Dutch Christian school was a WORLD of differance :p
Everything was allowed, no gospels, theology class contained info on all religions as an informative class. We had jews, muslims, christians, atheists etc, nobody cared which is great! :)
