"PANAMA CITY, Panama - President Bush vigorously defended U.S. interrogation practices in the war on terror Monday and lobbied against a congressional drive to outlaw torture. "There's an enemy that lurks and plots and plans and wants to hurt America again," Bush said. "So you bet we will aggressively pursue them but we will do so under the law." He declared, "We do not torture."

which completely contradicts US official documents

TERRORIST

To make the FBI's job easier I'll give them a hint as to my identity! My initials are C, A, and L. Happy hunting!

hmmm I predict I will say this sometime soon:

"hey whatever happened to Absinthe? He was here one minute and gone the next"

:O

Wait, so if Bush denies that the U.S. Government uses torture as a means of interrogation why is he trying to block the congressional drive?

Surely if they don't torture they have nothing to worry about.

Just... don't. Don't try to make sense of anything they do. I think it's been established that their reasoning is beneath normal comprehension.

Then why do they have offshore prisons..
-Because it's harder to swim 3 miles in a cold harbour than it is to walk 3 miles through a field, especially with handcuffs on.
-Because you don't tend to have innocent people nearby an offshore prison.

haha, i bet they are loving it, confusing us, so much fuel to the conspiracies, it all plays into their hands, paranoia fear and confusion, not because we are constantly being attacked by 'terrorist's' everyday, but because they create things like the threat alert meter, and say its something to constantly fear, a vaste majority of what was done leading upto today's event's are lie's and in your face fear mongering and it should be put in perspective.

The risk that any given American will be killed by a terrorist is about the same as the chance that a randomly selected high school football player will one day be a starting quarterback in the Super Bowl. One's chance of being killed in a terrorist attack is many times less than one's chance of drowning in a bathtub or being killed by a fall from scaffolding or a ladder. We would not adopt the "if it saves one life'' theory to justify a ban on bathtubs, even though hundreds of lives would be saved each year. Accordingly, America should reject terrorism legislation that will probably not save any lives and that demands that Americans give up things far more important than bathtubs.

I should be more worried about dieing in hundreds of other ways, terrorist attack's are bottom of the list.

Bush is clearly a collaborating liar, or he is so misinformed its not funny, both reason's are good enough to chuck him out of office for helping to divert the course of justice.

I think he meant overseas not literally offshore.
overseas as in outside of US jurisdiction

Yes. Offshore can mean that.

yes but he obviously meant an island prison

they're not going to swim back from eastern europe

Yeah, I think there's only one Alcatraz, and that's closed down.

"We do not torture."

"...uh, except when we do, because that's not torture, its protecting America, and terrorism eats at the soul of our great democracy and it's not... it's not torture - uh, he's just sleeping. Sleeping...naked on the ...concrete. Yeah that's it."

I'm ashamed of our presidency, and have been for the last few years.

isnt it in cuba? which is like a hop skip and a jump from florida ...wonder why's there's not too many stories of refugees dressed in orange suits wearing hoods washing up on the shores of florida escaping into the night to later become taxi drivers in new york or detriot?

guantanamo bay is actually quite picturesque

look there's george fishing

I am not going to condone torture, however, I would be interested in hearing other people's opinions on how we should treat captured terrorists.

I honestly try to have sympathy for them but after seeing how they treat our soldiers I don't have that much pity. So I am going to refrain from comment and let more rational minds discuss how we should deal with them. Also, how should we get intelligence out of them?

How many captured terrorists are there actually in Guantanamo Bay? I was under the impression that most of the people incarcerated there had been done so without trial, without being charged and without the oppurtunity to consult with legal counsel.

What he said.

Besides, torture is not the most effective way to extract information. People can still lie, can they not? Even worse is if you're torturing an innocent and he simply makes some bullshit off the top of his head just to make you stop. Yeah, that sounds like great intel.

It's fine so long as the civilians don't believe in communism.

Wait, so you mean killing civilians is fine as long as they don't believe in communism?

In which case we must cleanse them first? :p

'Tis the truth. Every time his mouth opens, dumb comes out.

You think the presidents would've evolved from being plants (Eisenhower to Bush).
Sinkoman, shouldn't it be, 'Everytime he opens his mouth, the world gains 1 more idiotic person'
