I'm gonna buy it, no matter what... I've decided that the game is too large to download and Steam doesn't provide enough bandwidth. I wouldn't want to be waiting days for the game to download when I could just run out to the store and buy it.

I'm going for both just so I can advise people on what it's like to purchase it from Steam. If I had the choice of just one it would have to be the full game from the shop.. I love handling the clean brand new case and reading the manual cover to cover while the installation bar slowly creeps along.

yea, I was kinda wondering that. I wanted to buy blueshift yesterday but it doesnt show up yet. I guess you click on a game you dont have then it takes you through a wizard? I dunno.

You can't purchase anything through it yet the feature is still being worked on. It wont be available until Half-Life 2 actually launches.

when i read spitcodfry's thread about how hl2 was going to be 'sent to peoples hard drives' the first thing that came to my head was, "wait, how the hell do you buy hl2 off steam, am i missing something obvious" this lead to looking all over the steamapp for something where i could buy

I think if you buy it and download it off steam, it downloads a level at a time so you can play while you download or something along those lines.
