The only metal bands I like are Bullet for my Valentine and Machine Head. Would Avenged Sevenfold count as metal? If so, them too. I forgot about Iron Maiden. How could I have forgotten them?!

Early Avenged Sevenfold material would be metalcore. However, since their last two albums they have come out as a band not really fitting in any one genre, combining elements of hard rock, classic rock, metal, punk, and even Oingo Boingo-esque string and brass arrangements. It is for this reason that people love or hate them.

I personally love them because they really have talent musically and they aren't afraid to push what they consider to be the envelope, no matter whose toes they step on. They stand out in a music scene sadly lacking in individuality and uniqueness.
