Yo, I am here representing Corporate Anarchy and I am looking to get some feedback on are latest style of concepts. Most of are old weapon concepts have been scrapped and we are getting fresh with new ideas. We are trying to make sure the flow and style are done correctly and also that the weapons apear to be real. We are trying to make the enviroment and everything around you feel real. If you can feel like your in the future it will be a massive achievment for me and the team. The concepts with are been produced atm are not 100% going to be in the game. We are just trying out ideas to see how they represent in 3d. Here is the first SMG which has been developed.

There have already been some issues addressed to me in IRC so I will tell you them now to help the feedback:

The thing that most people think is a scope is actually a flahlight, comments have come back about it been to big. I am looking to see how good it looks when its smaller.

Some people dislike the silencer. I am not that much of a fan of silencers ingames and they come across as been more eye candy than anything. :p

People have said it might be hard to hold on the front area. I kind of agree with them and disagree with them at the same time. Maybe its because I have modelled it. I dunno. I am looking into trying to make it more confertable though.

There is a small error on the side of the magazine, I actually pressed backspace when I had selected the wrong edge and didn't realise until the end of the render. So this problem has been sorted.

There is still a symatery map line down the middle which I have already sorted.

Anyway I will shutup. Here is the information on the weapon:

Polycount: 3000 Triangles
Time Consumption: 5 Hours work
Program: 3ds max 6

im not liking the scope mounts too much, seems a little flimsy for such a big scope, but we'll see what you have changed later on. i think generally it looks too long, the distance between the stock and the handle is big enough, but then to the front grip its huge. im not too sure about the mix of square cut edges on top against the smooth grip below, although that would probably change if they werent so chunky, as the top half seems quite dainty.

PS. nice modelling Ichi as usual, but theres quite a few wasted polies around the place.

hehehehe, who didn't read what I wrote :p Its not a scope. Its a flashlight :D

Thanks for the feedback. I got an updated concept from the concept designer and have already updated it but there has been no major changes. It doesn't even really look any different :-/

gah, i was reading it quickly and thats why i got confused :p

anyways, in that case, i think it should be more like a pistol light or sub-machine gun light. what i mean is, it would be more integrated into the design, as it seems very awkward in its place and in the way. maybe you could move it onto the front grip, just above where your index finger would go. that also fits with functionability, cause you could use your front hand to turn the light on, and the other hand to pull the trigger.

I will try and bring down the weight a little bit. I might try getting rid of the back area. But it could be hard to edit the front area since its strucutred around how it looks. I will try my best :/

I will try the light idea as well. I might get some new renders tonight or tomorrow. Depends if I can be bothered I had an exam today and I am quite tired

Thanks.

It's a neat gun and a good model, but it looks like it's having an identity crisis--it can't figure out whether it's an assault rifle or a stealth rifle, if you catch my drift. The silencer :)D) and the flashlight suggest stealthiness, but the bulkiness and design of the rear and body of the rifle suggest assault-iness.

hehehehe, i get what you mean. It does look quiet "Overdone" Its mainly because Quakeulf is trying to fit as many different ideas as he can at once. I also added to it. So its kinda like an ultimate weapon, it just happens to be a smaller version :p

At least its not as over the top as this:

Concept work by Quakeulf

I mean, in my opinion that weapon looks amazing. But can can tell straight away its one of those weapons where there is only 1 of them. Its like having a gundam game where everyone has a gundam X its pritty pointless and boring. Anyway my point is that this has kinda become one of them. I tryed taking of the silencer and it looks quiet nice. I might try some other ideas with it. See what happens. Of on my ideas atm would be to get rid of the sniper rifle style back bump area. It might make it look smaller.

Yo, I have made some quick changes before I go to bed tonight. Its not 100% what you asked me to do so I am sorry. But its along the lines. The new shape of the front area kinda givees your more of an angle to hold onto. The magazine wholes now pop outwards (Request by Quakeulf). I also got rid of the back area to try and make the weapon apear smaller. Anyway enough chit chat. I will let you lot comment:

Maybe it's supposed to be a close combat rifle, more like an SMG :)
Looks good though.

hey VERY nice model, as usual, but where is the shell ejector?

The bullpup config is neat
This isn't a bullpup weapon, bullpups have the magazine placed behind the trigger.

Anyway, the model looks great, but could still use some optimizing. It's hard to explain where, so maybe later I'll make a picture. Some of those smoothing is kinda wonky on the curved parts, adding a few more polies in there would fix it and it wouldn't make such a big hit on the performance.

I also agree that the barrel could stand to be slightly longer. If the silencer is staying, that's not an issue though. Still, the small barrel could be justified with a futuristic cooling system of some sort.

I also agree that the flashlight is quite large. Once it's textured, it would be obvious that it's a light (especially since it's on the wrong side for a scope). Still, given the futuristic setting of CA, a very small maglite-sized or even an unobtrusive penlight-sized light could fit the same role adequately. This current one is practically a floodlight in that respect. I dunno if that's the intention or not.

I kind liked the longer back section design, but that's not really going to be seen in the view anyways. Really just a personal preference.

Those are mostly minor quibbles though. This is a great gun, with excellent modelling work.

Too me, it looks like a large calibre sub machine gun i.e. a very powerful weapon used for close quarters combat, rather than a gun that would be used for medium to long range combat.

Yo, I made some more changes requested by Pendragon. Also I got rid of the torch completely. I was thinking if I was going to have one. I could put it actually inside the middle on the handle. If that makes sense. Not where you hold it. But in the gap between each plane of metal. Anyway it looks like this now:

SMG_Beta_04.jpg

I also made a first person render, because at the end of the day thats what happens:

Yes, its an MP mod only. I suppose mappers could make co-op maps or even single player maps, but we're focused on making CA a great MP game.

That's probably the best version so far, and I do agree that the flashlight would be much better integrated into the forwards grip.

I'd say everything's damn near perfect, except two things that I can see in the FP view pic.

There's a boxy protrusion right under the scope mount/ironsights, but I can't tell if it has a practical purpose outside of being ornamental. It looks fine to me in the side views, so maybe it could simply stand to jut out less?

And, the big bolt at the end of the scope mount isn't really bolted onto anything. (assuming that's a bolt, of course.)

Beyond that, I'd call it done.

yeah, looks nice. good point about the bolt :p

it reminds me of the basic Machine Gun in UT2k3 ( dont know if its in 2k4 )

Yo, thanks for all your suport and I might post a final render when its like 100% complete and optamised. It has some bugs which hopfully Ankalar can help me with and then I need to sort out little things. Thanks again :D

P.S. Sprafa sorry I forgot to answer your question on MP :D

i think it's looking really good, the barrel cold do with 'something' Maybe extending it would help. Try giving it one of those doppled barrels (i mean the ones with holes running down them for whatever reason cooling mayhaps?) that mightb make it look a bit meaner.

The first person perspective doesn't do it justice but animated it could look better, all in all a very cool looking model though.

The crosshair rocks.

I like it, kinda bulky in the fron though and the butt looks horribly uncomfortable.

Aside from that, the front handle still looks off.

Thanks for all the help guys/girls.

Not really, but it has some typical FN parts... like the grips, the stock, the sight-bridge...

looks kinda bulky to me... really good model though like always

IchI, want some buttsexch? :O~

THATS TEH MOESAST ORIGINAL AND SEXY WEAPON EVAR. (I kinda mean it ;))

I answer your question, but I will answer it again.

The Shell ejection is on the right hand side. Its not very hard to miss....

Im guessing that this gun is meant to be stylish rather than realistic? Because if it is meant to be realistic then there are a great number of things very wrong with it. If style is what your concerned about, then the only thing I could say about it is that the rear grip looks a bit out of place. All the other "furniture" on it is smooth while it has a bunch of sharp points on it. It dosnet seem to fit in somehow.
