Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Announced

Awesome, cannot wait for this. Heres hoping that they use a different engine (like Source), although that's unlikely. :p

Hopefully it'll play different from the first and WaW.

I guess Modern Warfare is going to be it's own sub series now. Not that I mind, I never was particularly fond of World War II as a game setting so it works for me.

I like the idea of branching the series out into multiple sub-series. It would be cool to have multiple ongoing arcs ... one focusing on modern warfare, one on Vietnam maybe, there's the already established WW2 one ... and maybe even something based more in fiction like a sci-fi war.

Of course they need to differentiate the gameplay more ... the settings as they are now are more or less window dressing as the games play almost the same regardless of era.

SWEET!!

Hopefully it'll play different from the first and WaW.

Personally I love the current MP system! I'm hoping it plays just like the first two games, just with a ton more stuff (perks, unlocks, weapons, etc.)

Awesome. I trust Infinity Ward over basically anyone to make a really solid (multiplayer) shooter now, but it'll be cool if they mix it up a bit or make some noticeable improvements. Like maybe using a different engine for... you know, the first time in the entire series.

For the love of all that holy, please add a mode without airstrikes and helicopters or UAVs for that matter.

I cant tell if everyone here is being sarcastic, or if everyone here is actually excited about getting the same game for a third time...

COD 4 was the only COD i liked or was ever interested in. Dont you think its to soon for another COD?

I was hoping for Call of Duty: 18th Century Warfare :(

I don't know how much longer they can keep this up without doing something radically different with the gameplay. Obviously CoD4 upped the ante significantly in the presentation department, but it plays just like CoD2, which played pretty similarly to CoD1. I mean, everyone was floored by the nuke scene, the gunship mission, the sniper mission, etc., but how many more new coats of paint can they put on the same game before everyone is bored to tears? I wonder, how much more can they really do within the constrains of real-world warfare scenarios? We've fired every type of gun imaginable, driven tanks, rained hell down from various aircraft, captured territory, defended territory, called airstrikes, done stealth missions, been all over Europe, seen Africa, the Middle East, the Pacific, been British, American, Russian, blown things up, ridden in Jeeps, Humvees, cars, and motorcycles. We've saved the world, been executed, and died in the aftermath of a nuclear blast. Maybe they'll exceed my expectations like they did with CoD4, but you know the saying: War never changes.

CoD needs to die painfully. Modern Warfare was such an average romp through all too familiar territory.

I think it's time for the real thing then!

While little is known of the game, MTV reports that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is coming out sometime this fall.

Hhhhm, will there be a pushback?

Huh? That'd be second. Or uhh... sixth. If you're only counting IF titles, fourth. :p

Here's where you guys fail: you're playing the games single player.

Will probably get this, but I thought it was going to be sci fi... :p

They need to add more variations of weapons because I, unlike many others, hated the MP system in COD4. For me it was just "Shoot guys with a gun to be able to shoot guys with another gun which does practically the same thing". SP was far better imo, especially All Ghilled Up, and the ending was even more shocking then HL2Ep2's.

That's some great news! I loved CoD 4 over every other cod game. WaW is not so good as i thought so i'll hope this will save CoD.

You're wrong. It was a finely honed, exquisitely tuned romp through all too familiar territory.

^ that, I played it last night. The only thing that really stood out for me were the sequences, nuke and end, and the dogs.. and even then after about the 20th dog attack I was like.. ok, no.

**** CoD in its generic, enemy respawning ass. Point an click in pretty clothing and big bangs - the series has bored me from start to finish!

(yet why do I keep playing them?? Damn the lack of decent fps!)

Some new ideas perhaps?.

I played multiplayer, it was okay but nothing a good Valve game cant absolutely shit on.

I bought CoD4 for xbox because I can stand substandard games more on a console (because half the fun is getting used to it with unintuitive lazy controls).

CoD4 was a flash in the pan game, hyped up, even enjoyable, but got bored of it quickly.

MUltip-layer is the same online shooter full of boring people with boring lives and boring opinions, I've been playing against these types of people since DF:BHD and I see no reason to spend any more money for the privilidge.

Valve spoiled me by showing me its possible to make good interesting games that aren't made by lazy ass mofo's who's only attempt at innovation are gimmicky features and a slight improvement in graphics.

To all those the haters of COD:

Call of Duty is about the multiplayer, not single player. I couldn't give a shit about singleplayer tbh.

Any game that allows you to go prone is for girlies! And iron sights?! Please. You can shove your slow moving, box camping, careful aiming up your none strafe jumping bottom!

CoD was made for people not man enough for RTCW/ET ;)

Yes, because Halo styled game play is so superior (one of them being run + gun). :p

I have never seen a statement so utterly wrong ever.

This, lol.

Call of Duty 4... 2? a sequel of a sequel of an original? jebus, you lot would buy ice from these shysters if you were inuits

Good I am going to look forward to this. Considering IW are doing this we won't get a tired rehash *coughWAWcough*

I love how game companies (actually movies as well) most of the time never want to put a number after a title once it's got to its 5th installment (this is asdie from Square and some horror franchises though)
