So, I started playing CS again; haven't played in a long time. Anyway, it seems like the new definition of camping is any time you shoot someone in the back, or are in in location they don't expect. I seem to remember it used to be when you sit in one place for a period more than about 20-30 seconds, maybe it's 2-3 seconds now or even walking slowly.

The CS playerbase has been going downhill ever since the first beta release.

Hello and welcome to online gaming. Here are a few helpful phrases for communicating with the locals:

Camper - Good shot, I wasn't expecting that
Cheat - My, you are good at this game!
Fag - You got me again

We hope you enjoy your stay.

Yea; it's been 6 years since I last played. Even though I totally suck compared to how good I used to be(1.2:1 k/d ratio versus 6:1), I've already been accused of cheating twice.

I guess the one thing I forgot was to take such comments as compliments. Silly me!

^ Don't play Brick, he's too hard

(cl_crosshairscale 1000, boo!)

Pfft camping is nothing learn to track people through walls with sound. For shits and giggles I traced a guy running down long hall in Office all the way and popped him in the head when he came into T spawn.

"OMG walls"
"Must be, but you must admit he was pretty damn loud running down that hall."

I hate camping. Anyone who hides behind a box, door, rock waiting for someone to walk into his crosshair is a damn lame sob!

And you don't for a second think to pre fire at the camping spots? Shoot the doors up a bit? Flash around corners? Walk so they cannot hear you coming?

I hate when people make this "rules" of how to play a game

I remenber when I played in cybercafes the instant when someone trow a grande it was everyone screaming "no bombs motherfvker" or something like that,or in a very small lvl that was practically a square whit 2 ways,if you dont go the way they want to them they kick you out or something like that
after all they do it for the score since they play in that automatic way that make everything repetitive,I remenber that when I killed a lot of people whit a not so used weapon like the mp5,in the next round everyone got a mp5,and if it was whit a ump, everyone got a ump in the next round, since they practically use just ak,m4,deagle and the like

It's funny how people whine about camping all the time. When I played CoD:UO I got accused of camping all the time in S&D. I mean if the "primary" goal is to set a bomb to a location B and see to it that no one disarms it then why isn't it right to go to a place which is hard to see and wait if some sucker comes and tries to disarm it, thinking no ones watching. Seems like the only right tactic would be to stand on top of the bomb and when you see someone you should turn your back to them. HAIL TEH INTERNETZ \o/

Loving TF2 for that reason... I have heard nobody yell "NOOB!" or "camper lulz" for the entire time I've been playing!

Instead we get people who say "omg this team is gay" every round.

A slight change of subject. What do you guys think about actual camping? I've always seen it as a legitimate strategy unless the game/level is badly designed in a way that makes it near impossible to beat someone who's camping in the right spot. It always seemed to me that camping was just a more intelligent way of playing, ie, not just running around while shooting everything that moves.

You're fighting.
ANYTHING goes, the only thing that shouldn't be allowed is camping at spawn

It annoys me sometimes, but it's a double edged sword - you know exactly where they are. A well placed grenade will take him out. Campers are the lowest on my list of Annoying Things in Online Gaming. Now bunny hoppers, dolphin divers, quickswitchers and glitches? Don't get me started.

Agreed...I get more frustrated at people with an AWP who fire, switch to pistol than back to AWP to avoid the reload, than the guys who crouch in the ferns with the hostages...

what annoys me the MOST is that the CS programmers KNOW people do that, and have done it for years, and STILL do nothing about it!!

I don't even play CS and I think that's stupid. I hate everything about CS...

Just mute everyone one, i think that mutes what they are typing as well... problem solved :)

Bacily a big **** off i dont care what you think!

I hate it so much when these jackasses are playing crappy music over the comms, and no matter how hard or fast you press the mute button, it wont mute em!!!

The comments about the CSS community are getting kind of silly and cliched, sure the community is immature but consider the fact that any FPS with such a large playerbase is going to result in most pubs being full of total assjacks - that's the nature of the rising popularity of PC gaming, or any media outlet and it's audience in general.

Find a nice server with settings / admins / regulars you enjoy, the same holds true in real life.. you find a group of people that compliment you nicely and stick with them (for the most part). If you really must play on randomly selected servers just turn off voice chat and ignore the text - that simple really.

Hence why I love Internode.

Hi,

Regarding your submission of player "t3h_duff1na70r-3000". Thanks for taking the time to demo + submit. As a result the player has been banned.

Cheers,
Max.

I usually only play on Node/GameArena/GamingSA/Gamespace although there may very well be a tard population they get banned sooner or later.

Exactly my point, Kyorisu. If you find the right people CSS is an absolute blast. It's like any other team sport.

Well I guess...

I don't play CS but in FEAR DM at first I didn't shoot at dudes that just spawned, and that almost always got me killed or with 10 HP left, so now: SPAWN... HEAD SHOT.

I don't hate camping because I do it too sometimes:E. However i can't stand sore loosers who keep calling me a cheater. Honestly I've been acused of cheating and been kicked off at least a dozen servers just because I was playing too good :|.

oh god i lol'd

I use this and similar tactics too. I love using sound to find enemies, ducking around a corner/box/etc until enemy passes, then popping out behind them and finishing them off.

I also prefer to sneak (walk/duck) in areas so enemies are less likely to know my location & I can more easily hear moving enemies.

I also like to stalk enemy combatants in game.

I do occasionally camp locations for the first 30-45 seconds of a round when guarding bomb-sites or hostages (eliminate the rushers); but usually I'm moving between a number of vantage points using sneaky tactics.

And I also use cover whenever it's available.

And personally . . . even if I do camp, who cares?

The only things I don't like are spawn-camping (not a CS problem) & exploits. Everything else (that I can think of) is a legitimate tactic.

This and a multitude of other reasons is why I stopped gaming online since about the time of RtCW and/or Medal of Honor. Haven't had the slightest urge to jump in the cespool since.

lol you'd have hated me in rtcw: et and a panzershreck ...gold map in particular ..the open doorway where the allies spawned made for some great splash damage if fired at the right moment

never got into CS:S except for a brief period during the CS:S beta prior to release ..too much of the same

Spawn camping is the only kind of camping that really gets to me. People that just stay in the same place arn't that much of a problem as you can usually bypass them or take them out with a grenade or whatnot.
