If I have a computer and I completly wiped out the hard drive of it, can I use the compaq CD/DVD recovery disk that came with the computer to install windows XP and the drivers for my system? You know, as kind of like a Windows XP CD? The DVD says that "it contains a copy of the system image loaded on the hard drive at the factory. Blah, blah, blah. If you recover or rebuild you system, be sure to use this recovery DVD.
So it should work right? Or do I have to shell out some money for a windows XP CD? Then hunt around the net for all my drivers and such?
And before anyone asks, I HAD to wipe the drive because I had several viruses on my computer that prevented me from using the system recovery program on the DVD itself and I also could not run any program to get rid of the viruses. Thus, creating a hoel that I could not get out of.
