I wanted to get the RB2 instruments cos I hear they are more reliable but they are still not out in the UK and I am sick of waiting!

So my question is should I:

1) Continue to wait?
2) Get the RB1 instruments?
3) Get the GHWT instruments?

I know both the RB1 and GHWT instruments have their fair share of problems though. How reliable are they? Are the problems fixed now? Which ones are better?

I know that's alot but thanks for any help guys.

waste of money.

Get a real instrument

I'd say option one, unless you have to wait a ridiculously long time.

Yea because we all know playing counter strike is a waste of money, I mean...you're not even shooting real people! Thats bullshit! Anyways I've never played the games, but if I did I'd go with RB1 stuff just cause it looks like alot more fun (especially the drums).

Get a real money

EDIT: Only played rock band 1 a little, so i really dont know the difference between them all. Great fun tho

To a real guitar is just stupid.

The RB1 instruments are fine, I still haven't upgraded the set I have and even with all my mates banging on them they work fine (had to buy a new bass pedal off ebay though)

I've got no idea if the GHWT instruments are any good though, never tried them.

The only issues I have with the GH:WT instruments are that the guitar's red button sticks when not pressed correctly (It has a 95% chance that it will strike) and the drums slide down when played aggressively.

Other than those, they're great.

Kamikazie that shouldn't happen with the red button, ring tech support or get a replacement from your retailer. I agree with the drums slide down. What I did was duck tape it (including the wiley ol' foot pedal) in place.

Buy RB2 instruments from eBay or something. Playing on RB1 shit after RB2's is horrible.

I'm very happy with the standard RB2 instruments and have pretty much no experience with any others.

Wait, nevermind, that's a waste of money, you clearly need to buy and learn a real instrument for some reason!

Rockband actually inspired me to pick up the drums like a year and half ago and guess what... I still dig Rockband. I would wait for RB2 though if it's only gonna be a little bit... foot pedal on my RB1 drums is all duct-taped up and shit haha... plus RB2 drums are less clack-clack-clacky.

I like singing too, but guitar/bass can go to hell. :p

Keep in mind I play guitar games on my 360 only: I have the GH2 w/game + white wired guitar, GH3 w/game black wireless guitar, Rock Band 2 w/ RB1 download, Guitar Hero World Tour bundle with everything. I mainly stick to the newest guitar which is my World Tour guitar and its really quiet and comfortable. I've had more problems at my friends house with his Rock Band 1 guitar and drums but I haven't tried any of the RB2 guitars/drums. I like the WT drums the best and the guitar is really nice too.

I have yet to try the mic but I'll give it a whirl someday...Also you should buy any of them and try not to beat on them too much. I've never had to return any of my gear and thats because I treat them nicely. I think people who forget that they're playing a game are the ones that smash the drums too hard and break them. Also storage is important and the less they are touched, the better

Get a guitar hero 3 guitar and wait for the rock band 2 drums. The microphones are just USB mics so I don't think there will be much difference.

use the normal controls?

after all the guitar is just a guitar shaped control whit the same buttons positioned like a guitar isnt?

I've been playing on the RB1 items for a while, and my biggest gripe is the Guitar. it doesn't really hit things reliably. You'll be missing things when you shouldn't. it's not bad enough to where I'm going to go and buy the RB2 instruments, but other than that, no real issues. I'll probably upgrade sooner or later, because parts of my drums are falling off *Random cheap plastic pieces that are breaking under aggressive/drunk playing.*

Yea it's alot different though, real instruments are harmless, and for $200 he can get a semi-decent guitar or bass, or even drums if he finds some cheap ones.

Or he can do what he wants, as in play a video game. I'm assuming if anybody who plays Guitar Hero really wanted to learn guitar/drums/etc, they would. We don't need your "looking down from the top of your nose" to help us through it.

First of all go **** yourself, second I was just commenting on the what he was saying is not anything like this. Buying a gun to kill people and buying an instrument to play aren't the same thing. I hate when people use that argument in these threads, if he never said that I would have never posted in this thread at all.

And I'd also like to point out that you only quoted me, when Solaris said basically the same thing first in a more aggressive way.. (not trying to involve Solaris though)

Playing a real instrument has more entertainment value. I don't think anyone can question that.

On the other hand, if you want to play several people together, playing a video game requires far less preparation.

In response to original question, I have no idea.

I was using you as a base. I'm not going to quote every soul that's talking about getting a real instrument instead of playing a video game. I wasn't even fully aiming my point at you, either. Like I said, I just wasn't going to quote everybody, cause that's a lot of quotes. You were just the last person to post anything related to that. Quit exploding, crazy man!

Because everyone is willing to invest hundreds of hours and dollars into an instrument they probably won't do anything interesting with!

But it's irrelevant. If he were interested in playing an instrument his thread would be "I'm interested in learning an instrument, any tips?". He obviously likes Rock Band and has shown no interest in playing actual music, your opinion on music games or music in general isn't really wanted.

Yeah, I've never truly understood the reason those arguments are even SUGGESTED anywhere....it makes no sense.

Not really relevant to the current derailed discussion but the way this thread is headed it's going to end up being posted eventually:

The main advantage of video games is that it's easier. And it'll always be easier. Flight sims are easier than flying an actual plane, and racing sims are easier than driving a car. Actually singing is more fun than Singstar (oh wait... Singstar's not a video game anyway).

Judging by the info provided in the original post, my response would be to wait for Rock Band 2 equipment. Since several instruments looks much more fun than just a guitar, and if they handle poorly...

Thanks for the tiips guys plus please stop with the get a real instrument thing. I can already play one and don't want to take up another.

I was in the same position but **** guitar hero, gt3 really wasnt that good and the songs really didnt match up to well.

I have been waiting for the rb2 controls as well but just ended up getting the rb1 controlers with rb2 yesterday! Its great fun.. well worth it.

All the DLC us great, esp downloading hole albums.

You can download Journey. That alone warrants the purchase of Rock Band 2.

You say you can Download Journey. I'm assuming it costs? I know nothing of DLC.

It costs, I'm afraid. I wasn't payin' though, so whatever.

Ahh, paying ftl :( I guess if I somehow catch some extra dough I'll do it..but...as of now, no thx

There are a few free songs you can get, including Still Alive.
