Hello everybody..

well lately I have been having these bad headaches in the back of my head(me being the paranoid kid I am i keep thinking i have some weird disease) but can computer screens cause headaches? Now that I think about it it all started around christmas when I got a 22 inch NEC CRT superbright monitor and i was using an old 17 or 18 inch LCD HP screen.. can this be causing it?

If you're staring at it all day without any other lights on, sure.

 Might be that your Refresh rate is too low. Try something like around 80 hz.

Yeah funny it was only on 75.. I just turned it on 85 maybe that will help.

Causes eye muscle strain, you interperate it as a headache.

definately, i used to get headaches with CRT monitors, if you are struggling then use a TFT if you sit at it all day long, if not then set your refresh rate nice and high:)

a korean guy died in a lan cafe for going around 72+ hours, but he wasn't eating.

but you can easily stay on 48+ hours if you eat properly and occasionally move.

Any headaches with computers is mostly associated with eyestrain caused by refresh rate differences. You don't want to change around with refresh rates often. It can make you physically nauseous easily. Have it set at something, and keep it that way.

Also, don't use a computer in a room with the light completely off. It promotes eye strain and causes headaches when you don't have the contrast that a lamp in the room provides.

And, if you wear glasses like I do, make sure they are clean, because as i've found, having glasses with a couple smudges or dust on them can make oneself more tired and with more eye strain.

.......what? well that sure sounds unlikely, are you sure he dident get stabbed for beating a biker in CS? :p

i once got a headache after not being infront of my comp.... pretty sad stuff.... but yet funny, alarming, but funny!

yeah but that korean was killed because of deep vain thrombosis, the same as some people who have dies on planes :(

i used to get it too, just stand up every 3 hours or so, the look at somn other then the screen, then roll ur yes in circles....help a great deal.... :rolling:

My eyes were really overstrained due to me using computers almost all the time and sleeping only 4 hours a day for about a year(I skipped almost every day in school -.-) so I had to go to this eyehospital and they gave me some sort of medicine that relaxed the eyes, it was amazing how different it felt XD

A good way to relax your eyes... is to close them, and look down towards your cheek with your eyes(while closed). Take your index and middle fingertips, and slowly massage against your eyeball through the soft tissue of your eyelid, being careful not to press too hard, but firm enough to outline its shape and massage it gently.

When you open them again, it should have relieved alot of the eyestrain, at least temporarily. I like the feeling.

Jesus christ, just did what you said and it feels GRRRRREAT!:D
Thanks man!\o/

I sit in front of a computer 9-5 artworking. Get home then shoot people. Get the occasional headache but thats only when the weed is extra potent..

massaging eyeballs..... that's frickin' hawt!!!

Sure it can give you headaches..

If you stare at the computer for copious amounts of time without refreshing your eyes with fresh lights, fresh oxygen etc, then it will and most assuredly give you a headache, although these results aren't the same for everyone.

They can if you have a computer like mine that never wants to cooperate. I got a new VC and does this realy weird split second semi almost not evident flicker. I can't wait to get an apple.

So it can oxidize on you? That's all apples are good for :-P

whoa whoa whoa, let's not degenerate this into a mac vs pc argument. that has already been settled, macs are good for one thing, video editing. anything else would be like using a toothbrush to give an enema to a velociraptor... it ain't gonna happen.

and that eye-rubbing trick is orgasmic

Great, just what I needed. Knowing that I have caused pleasure in a bunch of guys by telling them what to do!
